Hot Car Act

I have never owned nor driven a car that did that.

Me neither. And it would make me crazy if it did because I'd forever be forgetting to take that extra step to engage the lock. The only thing my cars have ever had to guard against locking the keys in is a little chime when you hit the lock button on the door, just to remind you (or alert you, if you hit the button accidentally) that you're about to lock it.

Last time I had a car that I locked by using the door locks rather than a key fob was in 2007 when I sold my '99 Tacoma with manual windows and door locks for the 2006 Mazda Tribute. So, I guess not 15 years like I said originally, but it was 10 years ago.

My theory is people are driving much larger cars with tinted windows and it's really hard to see in those windows from the outside. Babies are also rear facing and in the back seat which is safer, but you can't see your child through the rear view mirror unless you have another mirror on the back seat. I drove a small car without tinted windows and when I got out the entire backseat was visible.

The problem is everyone is on there cell phones!

My van and the few before this one have had the key fob but I could still lock them by hitting the button in the car as well. Which is good, because I procrastinate like crazy about getting a replacement when the battery in the key fob dies.
