I just have to tell you this was the greatest thing we have done in a long while. My husband arranged for this trip for our 5th wedding aniversary.

We flew with Thompson Aire Inc. Jeff our pilot was wonderful. Very paitent with me cause I was a little nervious. But I have to tell you it was incredible. Beyond words. We could HEAR all the noise comming up from below! Cars, Dogs, Kids, He told the ground crew where to go and meet us even before we took off!.. Did you know balloons only go one way, They dont come back.

Anyway. Thompson Aire Inc is the company and you can see a picture of us in the basket on the calendar page. Just click on the link on March 11th.

I recomend this trip for EVERYONE. Great time

glad you enjoyed it!!!!

I have a BIG problem with heights - so this is out for me. Although mother would love to do it - problem is she won't do it alone.....

Honestly you could do it. The Pilot Jeff said he has taken thousands of people who said they could never do it and they all loved it.

Anyway. They most often have several people going so I dont think your mother would be alone.

Hope that helps.

spiceycat,

I won't climb a ladder and am nervous in elevators, but I love ballooning. I've flown at every opportunity for more than 30 years now.

For the average height female, the tall basket gives you a lot of comfort. I'm 5'4" and I'd really have to work at it to fall out. My 6' husband, on the other hand, was a little nervous the first couple of times because he was so much taller than the basket.

My kids have flown since they were small and also love it. Only my oldest son was a little hesitant. He was about 16 before we ever got him in the air, and I think there was a young female involved then. Once he tried it, he loved it, too.

There is little sensation of movement unless the passengers move around in the basket. You have to look down to know you're moving at all. It really IS a wonderful experience.

If you're apprehensive, look for a balloon that is tethering. That means they go up about 100', but have ropes to tie them down. If you get uncomfortable, they can bring you right back down. My favorite pilot must have tethered every senior citizen in north Georgia several years in a row and they ALL loved it.

Just saw your photo Amanda and you looked like you and you DH were having a great time! :sunny: I am not too keen on heights either but one day I would love to try this. I know my cousins' bride-to-be and her Dad went up on the morning of her wedding before the ceremony at the Wedding Pavillion at WDW and she loved it too. :sunny:

By the way Happy Anniversary! What lovely memories you both will have of that day! :sunny:

It took me forever to get in a plane- and I still have anxiety over that. It sounds lovely, but I'd have to be tethered to enjoy it I'm sure.
