Host Sightings 9/25

I don't know what to think of the boot while afk thing... if people are gone hours and hours, I could understand somewhat, but does VMK really expect us to never have to leave the computer during a 3 or even 2 hour event to answer the phone, the door, get some water, go in the restroom, tend to children, etc.? Unless they can see how long you've been afk, seems strange to me. That'd be awful to have to go in the other room for even 10 minutes after waiting for hours and then get booted for being afk.

I was in one room today and basically just stood there quietly most of the time with only a couple of statements here and there. Otherwise, I was mostly afk, even though I actually was at the computer. Thing is, one of my guinea pigs had surgery last Thursday and because he isn't eating normally, I have to handfeed him with a syringe and also hold his water bottle to his mouth so he drinks his water. Then he takes his medicine and I let him sleep on my lap for a bit. So I'll sit on here flipping through various websites, mostly reading...but thought I'd sign on today on VMK. I figure that since I couldn't do much in terms of typing this afternoon since my piggy was with me, I thought I would just use that time to sit peacefully in one of the rooms in case a host popped by. Now I'm sure that there might be thoughts of "well maybe she shouldn't be on VMK then if she needs to do this"...but while he is on my lap sleeping and one hand is holding/rubbing him, I don't have much opportunity to move around, so I do this at the computer since I can sit comfortably and hold him comfortably and still be able to read or do some things online. All that to say, it would have really stunk if I was using that time to come on VMK and "listen" to others and watch other people only to find myself booted.

I was in the room and yes, Hula booted a few players who were AFK. Letting in a couple of prominent VMK/DISboards players. Funny how that works. Sorry to hear about your bad luck, I would have been disappointed also.

Not trying to flame here, but can I ask how you came to the conclusion Hula put those people next in line?

I'm confused, I was in Tiki Tiki Island and I was booted. I did not say a word while there and I was not blocking anything that I was aware of, so Staff should not have had any reason to boot me. I may have been AFK for a few minutes, but I know many people have been AFK and won prizes. Since Tiki Tiki Island won and I was booted from Tiki Tiki Island, I have to assume that I was in that instance of the room which means I did not get the prize.

So, can someone explain why I was booted? And was Hula the person who booted me?

Are you HappyGoLucky on VMK? Hula joked when she entered the room asking how many people are actually here then laughed. The whole room came alive pretty quick and lined up on the side of the island she asked. We did seem to lose a couple of people (one as Bug explained was having weather troubles) which did let others in the room but they were already in queue, Hula did not choose who came in.

They have been asking ppl to line up. I think they are as tired of a room full of afk ppl as I am.

It's very boring waiting around for host to show up. When they had build a room contest you only had to wait 2 days for them to show up and judge if your room was good enough to win. Now we have to wait 30 days for them to show up and judge if WE are good enough to win.

I have things to do in real life, I'm hosting 200+ people in less then 2 weeks and I have mega tons of things I have to get done before then. I'm at the computer when I'm able. I try to drag my other projects to work on to the computer room but sometimes I can't.
