Host Gifts a Room to a girl who is being rude and fighting with another player.

Actually that may very well be what the change in moderation is. Too bad they neglected to inform us. Now let me explain, as many of you know Disney recently purchased Club Penguin. In that game there are players, who after taking and passing a "Values" test become "secret agents". There job is to help the moderators keep the game safe by reporting bad behavior. The agents are given a "spy phone" that is only viewable to them. You use this phone to report bad behavior directly to a moderator. Not everyone has to or is able to become an agent, but when you do that is your duty! You are also sometimes contacted by the moderators with that phone. When it rings you report to headquarter where you are given an assignment. It may be to check out a situation that was reported or sometimes to help moderators with parties etc. In a way it is similar to the CL program on VMK, except that the "agents" actually have the power to stop bad things from getting out of control. Also the "secret" part is just that!! Part of being an "agent" is to keep it secret. When you are in an area you and no one else for that matter knows who there may or may not be an agent or a moderator. Since there is always the possibity of someone with clout looking over your shoulder, I think you have more of a tendency to think before you act. Now I know in VMK we are also expected to report bad or dangerous behavior. The difference is in VMK most of us feel that our reports go to the "black hole". Our reports are all too often seem to fall on "deaf ears". I have never had anyone from VMK contact me to let me know that a situation I reported had been looked into and has been handled to a logical conclusion. As for staff entering a players room and chewing them out about other players behavior I think that is just plain wrong. Wouldn't a better way be to clear the room and then explain to the owner that it is best to "boot" rude players. And do it with a smile on your face for Gods sake, these are kids! It seems behavior continues to deteriorate and now the staff is part of it. As for the Dreams month it has already become a nightmare. The greed, the envy, the fighting is worse than ever. And yes sure a lot of you say, forget it I will just go about my normal VMK life and ignore it! The problem is you can't! Just try doing a quest where you have to go out into VMK! The rooms are crammed with throngs of people all camping out waiting for hosts! Try strolling through the park like I enjoy, it's not possible. I have to sit in a queu to go for a walk!! Today as I read these forums and throw in my own thoughts, I have only one wish for myself and all my fellow VMK players! Please, please bring back the Magic that was the reason I joined VMK for in the first place!!

Here's my favorite part so far...

SOME people who have won ears are upset that MORE ears are being given out because it LOWERS the VALUE of them.

Two days into this and I have heard the above statement out of more than one person. Yeah... going to be a fun month.

What a shame for some to think this :( But it does not make much sense to me, lowering the value of an item that can not be traded???

Good luck to all for the rest of the month, hope many more deserving Dis peeps get those great looking ears :thumbsup2

I can't believe all the crying on here about the dreams stuff. This is another way that VMK is simulating what happens in the parks, and I think it is great! I go to Disneyland a lot, and I will tell you that I have never once received anything from the dreams squad, and I have never complained when other people did! I can also guarantee that people aren't hanging out on Main Street waiting for some freebies! They (dream squad) have specific directions (as it appears in VMK also) to hand out prizes to certain people at certain times at certain locations, and that person gets the prize if they are nice or not. I don't think I should also get a prize just because I'm standing next to the person who does! Get over it people and just play the game and have fun!

you have missed the whole point of the thread.:sad2:

The point is that VMK needs to foster good will and magic. While it is based on the Parks it does not emulate them in that it is a game where items are everything and if you do not have those items, for some, it means you are less of a player than someone else(that is how a lot feel-not me but a lot).

While at the Park John Doe may win a night in the castle and someone else does not it will not effect you over all experience at the Park.

While in VMK if someone has the blue mickey ears and you have no chance of ever owning them(because they are not tradeable) then you can feel left out not part of the in crowd.

It makes for ill will, soil feelings and over all resentments.

I agree with Mal. While the random way they give out prizes may work for the real parks, it does not in VMK. The majority of people who are in Disneyland don't even know a thing about the promotion and even if they do, generally couldn't care less about getting some silver and blue ears. You know why? Because they're in DISNEYLAND! There's too much other REAL stuff to do. VMK is people sitting in a chair at home staring at the pixelated version of the place they wish they could be. The social structure and what is and isn't considered important is entirely different. Yes, it's about friends and fun, but it's also about acquiring virtual items. What's the most exciting day of the week for VMK'ers? Friday. Why? New items in the store. Pretty much everything that gets us excited in VMK is centered around items. Therefore, it's only natural that we're going to be foaming at the mouth waiting to be visited by the Dream Squad, and the disappointment of not receiving anything (or receiving non-dream items that can be purchased in a store) is going to be far greater than anything in a real theme park.

I do applaude the effort. I think bringing the dream team to vmk was a great idea. But as I totally expected based on the popular room list, the usual suspects have been dreamed. To me it just does not appear to be random. I almost think you should log on on the times of the dream team and you would be randomly selected to get a prize. (Have no idea how to do that) But to me it was an obvious failure based on how ppl were being selected.

Good luck to the disers and hope your dreams come true! I will save my dreams for the hopes of the night in the castle suite in WDW :yay: :yay: :yay:

CAJUNWDWFAN that is my point actually, the kids in the room dont know that just Host give things out, but I did. That's what was so sad to watch for me, most these kids are only interested in what they might be able to get, and dont read the pop up.

Okay, being that this was my room, I think some things should be clarified. At times, I have trouble in trade & crash. Something must have been said while I was in trade and I did indeed dc. When I got back to my room, VMK_Fusion was there. I asked what happened and was told that I needed to take care of players who were not showing proper VMK Values. I asked who it was because I crashed, but was not given an answer by him. I was told by other players and when that player started calling others liars, I immediately boot her. My room was a hang out & I just ask trivia questions & give out prizes for fun, because unlike VMK is doing with this promotion, I love to make the kids happy. And I guess I am one of those kids who doesn't read the pop up! My son had to point out to me today that only Hosts are awarding prizes. ;)

A friend on my list was at tiki tiki island yesterday. Three girls were being mean to HER. Staff came in and awarded my friend a castle suite. Afterward many other people in the room started attacking her. Anyway that is her story confirmed to me this morning. That she was the one being attacked and she received the dream prize. Not the mean girls.

Thx PrincessAveri

As far as this is concerned, immediately after this happened and I had heard from someone on my friend's list what happened, I ran into one of the girls that was fighting with the winner. Her story matched my friend's story & they don't know each other. She said the girl was being really rude and saying inappropriate things. She said Hula came in and said to the girl that she can not behave in that manner anymore. The girl agreed and then Hula awarded her the Dream Room. Everyone was in shock...after all, she was JUST REWARDED for what others would be banned for.

thats odd.... maybe Hula thought it would clean up her act... not quite sure... @_@

I couldn't agree more with this. I don't feel that we can compare how the things are handled in the theme parks to how things are handled in VMK. One is real where we as real people can walk into, ride real rides and have fun enjoying the place. While the other is something we log on to with our computer and is not real..its a game. A game mind you that KIDS play. KIDS...kids that do NOT understand how this all works and will just end up hurt and upset at the end of the day. Parents aren't going to let their kids "camp out" on a game all day long or evening or whatever. All this is really doing is feeding the bad behavior that has been in the game and making it worse...as well as bringing it out in those that may not have been that way before. Then they give gifts to those acting that way!! :confused3 If they wanted to do this and do it right I think it should have been a little pop up in your messages from staff about being "gifted" a Dream item and to enjoy. No hosts or whoever running around doing it. No claims of well you have to be in the right place at the right time, wearing the right clothes and saying the right thing. That isn't how its been with everything from what I have been reading. I don't care at this point if I get one item from this whole thing cause I will more then likely not be on long enough at all this month to bother with anything more then the credits. I refuse to take part in something that is just creating more problems then good in the game. It wasn't starting to lose the magic awhile ago and this is really just making it worse. I wouldn't be surprised if the magic ends up lost for tons after this month. :sad2: I really don't care to see that pop up message reminder every day either. It obviously will not do any good since most are not going to read it to begin with.

:cool1: i think this is a disgrace to vmk to give items to people that dont care about peoples feelings hurting people and then getting a prize. It is like doing something like begging a tester then fighting stealing and so on, thinking its a game then getting rewared i really think people like that should get a ban or a tester overlooking them.

I REST MY CASE I HOPE YOU NO WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY!

thanks you for listening youres tleylo

I just want to say that this whole Dreams controversy is making me really sad. VMK thought is would be fun for us to play the free game that we love, with the added hope of maybe getting another free added surprise here and there. It's all about giving!!

I don't understand where everyone's sense of entitlement has come from. One post mentioned that this game is not where the rules of life are to be taught..it is a game. Well, in all games there are people who come out ahead of others. In this game, none of it is real except for the attitude and emotions brought by the players. We create the "atmosphere". Only we can decide if we are happy for people winning or ticked off that our own greed hasn't been satisfied today, and are going to blame it on other people. Only we can choose how we feel and react.

Yes, given the chance, there are things I would change about VMK but it's just entertainment. And, like pinkgirlygirl said...I have bigger dreams!

I play VMK and visit the DIS as an escape from the real world. To go to a happy place! I'm going to play the game as I always do. If I get a surprise...Yay!! If not, oh well! The course of my life has not been altered and I will happy for those of you who do win new free pixels!:cool1:

Like I said...this is not meant to be a rant, at all. I really just want us all to take responsibility for our own emotions and perspective and go back to enjoying the game and making it a fun place to escape the cares of life!

Hugs all around!!!!:grouphug:

Well SaidOthers should not be so selfish.. This game is for everyone to keep there magic going when they are not able to be in Disney. That's what I do. A couple of hours our of everyday VMK is my escape to keep my magic going...and to relax from the day to day. It should not be another stressful situation just like in real life. This is Virtual Life it should be all white picket fenses and peace for everyone....But I guess no matter what there is always hate and discontent even in the Virtual World.

And Mal I do agree. The Hosts should not just rush into a room and give a gift and rush out. They should listen to conversations that are going on, etc and make sure this person deserves a dream...

Good morning

Thought I would share this story. I was in the matterhon last night when Phinny comes in and leaves within a few seconds. She comes in again and does the same thing. Now the room is starting to build up and then becomes the maximum ppl in the room. There was a guy wearing a sparrow and stitch hat. He then changes to the minnie hat and wins the dream castle room. Now either Phinny was looking for someone to change clothes ore looking for the Minnie to award the prize. In my mind the rich got richer. Congrats. ;)

This month so far has been bitter sweet, on one hand I won dream ears the first day. On the other I can't wear them!
If I leave a guest room with them on I am surrounded and followed and asked the same question OVER AND OVER.
So, I don't wear them
there is also the sympathy I feel for my close friends that were not in my room the day we won the ears.
One of my best VMK friends has been sitting in splash mountain room for 2 days. Phinny came in last night and walked right out without saying a word or giving a prize.
Talk about bursting someone's bubble! The hosts KNOW we are all waiting.
It would be nice to be acknowledged with a HI or " Sorry no one is wearing what we are looking for today"
and that is another kicker. there are HUNDREDS of possible pieces of clothing to choose from, do you think they could possible give is a little HINT as to what they are looking for???

SOLUTION:
Have host games, let winners choose what dreams prize they want this way some are still going to stay rare, not that it matters, they aren't trade able.
Hosts can still walk around gifting dreams but at least there is the "OPTION" to try to WIN the prize rather than sitting in the dungeon for a week and being ignored by passing hosts!

I'm only interested in the ears.. they can keep everything else.. anything else given, I'd give it away or sell it out of spite.

I don't expect to see certain staff due to history, but being an avid player as myself and still waiting, favortism is hardly a factor in this event. I'm not patient enough to public room stalk, so I've been chillin in my own rooms, in hopes I can make a slight difference as far as lame people winning anything (BOOT lol)..

In WDW, my mom and I had just got off Big Thunder, when walking away I looked back and saw a flood of blue ears appearing at the exit. I quickly ran back and blended into the waiting crowd (it was hard to do being 6'4" with the only gold ears on). The dreams squad promptly chewed me out saying it was for peeps exiting the ride only. Our IRL dreams was a train too soon. To compare VMK to real life, it's sad to also know people will go this entire month without seeing a thing.

I will merge this thread with the other rant thread but I wanted everyone to see it first.

While this is second hand info(because I was not in the room when it happened - a friend was who is an adult and I trust completely witnessed it and told me) here goes the story:

Tiki Island

Two girls and fighting with each other one is being extremely rude when Host enters the Room goes up to the girl who is being rude and gifts her the Dreams Room!:rolleyes1 :headache:

Now I am not sure how much or if any of the exchange Host saw or what was said following this gift by the others in the room. This gift makes me extremely sad for several reasons.

Moderation in the game does not seem to be improving and rude/mean players are not being taken out of the game but it seems they are now being rewarded with dreams.

secondly I think it is also totally unfair that if a host enters a room that only one person in that room receives a dream.

I know I will take a lot of flack about this but my feelings about these host gift events has always been the same I think that all they do is harbour resentment and disappointment in most players.

Yes it is great when you are bestowed upon a gift of any of the dream items but like my room on Saturday we were all so excited when Host Lily entered the room only to be totally let down when we found a pink slipper, teacup teleporters and a flower in our inventories.

While a lot of you say WOW I would be so happy just to receive a free gift...sorry I do not buy that for 1 minute.

Most of the members here have been playing long enough that we can afford to purchase all those items, already have them in our inventories etc.

If this is a "dream" event stick to dream items and dream items only or if giving out rare or semi rare items include them with dream items.

Gift the entire room at least 1 dream item. (which by the way I think should be the ears)

I think that anyone who encounters a Host during the event hours should receive the Ears and then some extras given to a few.

If a few simple things could be done this would be a awesome event.

I am not putting down the Host far from it, their directives have come from above. Just again :confused3 and :sad2: at the handling of an event that should be making VMK a more magical place when instead as it continues is only causing resentment and disappointment in many.

Make this event magical please reconsider how and what is being bestowed today before this goes any further

Thanks for listening.

shame:sad2:

I must agree with most of what has been said. I have just been trying to enjoy meeting new friends and playing the game rather than just being concerned if I am going to be gifted. I haven't been playing very long, so my outfits are extremely limited. I'll keep on enjoying the rooms and the people and saving up those credits since it doesn't seem like anything new is going to be released this month.

while I like the stuff very much (especially the room and furniture)
I am annoyed with the way they are being distributed,
I have recieved ears, and I do wear them, mostly because they look nice with my outfit ;)
However I would much prefer vmk to have a q button quest, starting on a friday and every weekend for the month. That way not everyone can get them, but its not completely unreachable.
Vmk doesnt seem to understand that unlike a disney park, we cannot spend all of every day in the game (well I cant anyways:lmao: )

Aww, I'd be happy to help make a dream come true & give you some outfits to wear. Stop by my room. Search eagles after 6:00 Central time.
