Hospitals near WDW . . .

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me with this question. We will be traveling to WDW in mid-June with our DD who has a heart condition. Does anyone know the name and location for the closest regular hospital and the closest children's hospital? If not, where can I get this info?

Closest hospital is probably Celebration Hospital. Closest Children's is at Orlando Regional and I don't know the name.

I agree with Lisa for the locations. I think there are 2 Children's Hospitals in Orlando. One is called Arnold Palmer Women and Children's Hospital or something like that. I don't know the name of the other one.
I'd suggest you contact your DD's MD and get a recommendation from them on the hospital to use in case of need. You should also bring contact information (like MD's phone number, page number, etc) along and maybe a summary of your daughter's care. The summary is not absolutely neccessary, but might give you some peace of mind to know you have it.

Here is a link to an Emergency Information Form for Children With Special Health Care Needs . The ACEP & AAP designed this form to be an easy, effective way to carry pertinent medical information about chronically ill kids.

I even made a similar form for myself because I have several medical probs, and wanted a consise record to have available in emergencies.

I am not the OP, but I appreciate the info in these posts. I have printed out the emergency form and this will be helpful for both of my boys in organizing their medical info. I was also looking for the closest children's hospital as I always need the name of a pediatric neurosurgeon when we travel. Thanks!

The closest Children's Hospital would be Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women, here's their site:

Celebration Hospital is probably the closest hospital, depending on where you are in Orlando and is a 60 bed hospital with an emergency department. The hospital is operated by Florida Hospital, their site is:http://www.flhosp.org/index2.htm If you click on locations from the left menu it lists all the hospitals they have in the Orlando/Kissimmee area.

The emergency info form in the post above is terrific to have on hand, especially during your vacation.

Thanks you for the link to this hospital. When I looked up neurosurgeons on the hospital website, it told me about the Wade Center for Hydrocephalus. One of only 5 centers working on a cure for hydro. This is very interesting to me because both of my son's have a rare form of hydro. I really appreciate knowing about hospital and center.
