hospital is moving....SWW what to do?

ok my DD & I will be taking a trip just the 2 of us for her birthday over SWW next year. I wanted to go the first WE in june but my hospital is moving to a new building. They are planning the move over Memorial Day Weekend. Rumor has it that no one will be allowed to have vaca days for around the time that we move. Her school is scheduled now to end mid june. Do I schedule the trip for as soon as school lets out so I won't miss SWW or do I try to make my schedule fit around the trip so I am not taking vacation days - I am a nurse and work 3 - 12hr shifts a week. We would be going Thurs half day school til Monday evening.

I'm not sure I understand the question. SWW is for 4 weekends straight. either aim for the first weekend which would be the weekend before Memorial Day weekend or aim for the last one. Or any of the 2 in-between.

If you don't care what celebrities are there then it doesn't matter what weekend you go. It's all the same thing each weekend.

the question is - do I not take vacation days and schedule myself for the beginning of the one week and the end of the next so we can go during any of the weekends or do I try to schedule our trip for the last weekend which is possibly the last days of school? I am trying to find out from management if there are any "blackout dates" for vacation next year so I can schedule vacation days but if the blackout period includes all of the SWW then I have to make my schedule fit.

Thanks! I emailed her to try to find the "blackout dates" She is going to try to get a definate answer for me. Good Luck to you!

Not sure if this matters to your planning, but Memorial Day weekend and the first SWW will definitely be more crowded than mid-June.

At my employer, if you have scheduled a vaca before a policy change announcement, they honor your request. If the schedule is just a rumor at this point, I'd get my request in now.

If that doesn't pan out, my next choice would be to take advantage of the 4 scheduled off days.
