Lory Beth Snyder’s infant daughter, Lorelai, was recently admitted into NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. The 4-month-old was being treated for some excessive bleeding.
During a long day of treatment, Lory and Lorelai went to take a nap in their hospital room. Lory put the baby down in her crib and she fell asleep in the bed beside her.

A little over an hour later, Lory woke up from her nap. But the diaper bag was gone. The baby’s belongings were strewn about the room. The IV pole was gone. Lorelai’s crib was gone.

And Lorelai was gone.

Frantic and petrified, Lory sprung out of bed and ran down the hallway for help. She quickly found Lorelai in another patient’s hospital room, surrounded by a group of laughing, happy nurses.
But the person who was holding Lorelai was not a nurse…

See the link for the rest of the story.
So what do you think? I think this lady is crazy to think it was an acceptable thing to do and I am appalled at the nurses.
I am also disgusted with the police response.

Um yeah that's not appropriate at all.

I'd be calling the state police and reporting the local cops and the hospital staff.

This is a fake story, IMO.

So the mom's report is that the nurses were allowing it to happen (by playing with the baby and laughing) but the hospital statement states "two of our nurses acted immediately, followed all protocols, and rapidly brought the situation under control"? sounds like there is a story but the facts are still being sorted out

And on the NEA Baptist Facebook statement, if you go to the comments, you can see a screenshot of what the woman that took the baby said.

The woman says the baby was crying for over an hour and that is why she took the baby. To "be a good Samaritan".

Wow. If this is true, this is absolutely insane.

The kidnapper (and that is what she is) actually admits she took the baby from the hospital room:

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

"The woman at the center of an issue at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital where a baby was taken from one room to another patient’s room said she didn’t think she did anything wrong.

Latasha Harris said she believes she did the right thing by taking the baby.

“If nobody else is going to do nothing, Tasha is going to step up to the plate and do something,” Harris said.

Harris said she was admitted to the hospital for sickle cell anemia and when she heard a baby crying, she went to another patient's room and checked on her.

“Like I said, I got her quiet for 5 minutes and put her back in her crib," Harris said. "She didn't stay quiet, so I took her back to my room."

The 4-month-old child's mother, Lory Snyder, was asleep.

Snyder told Region 8 News she never heard her daughter crying and said she would have heard her if she was.

She does remember a lab tech coming in the room to wake her up and what that woman said alarmed her.

“She just wanted to let me know that if I woke up my baby was safe and not to panic, and I was confused," Snyder said. "I was like, what are you talking about?”

Snyder said that's when she walked across the hall and found her baby in Harris's room with several nurses standing around.

Harris said she didn't think taking the baby along with her IV stand was a big deal.

The nurse seen me bring the baby to the room,” Harris said. “Somebody else down the hallway, further down the hallway, saw me bring the baby to the room. Everybody was just looking and smiling.”

Harris said she did not have intentions to harm Snyder's daughter and that she just wanted to give the baby love and attention.

Despite Harris's intentions, Snyder said it was wrong and frightening.

“You don't enter a room that is not yours and take a child that does not belong to you especially from a person you do not know,” Snyder said.

Harris said she didn't want to frighten Snyder, but said she stands by her decision.

“To have that peace of mind that I did go check on somebody's child, I'm fine with that,” Harris said.

Jonesboro police said they've concluded their investigation and do not expect to file charges.

NEA Baptist’s CEO Brad Parsons said on Monday no one will be reprimanded because he believes the staff handled the situation appropriately.

Region 8 News reached out to the hospital again on Tuesday, and they declined to comment any further on the situation.

I knew I had read his but no matter what I googled I couldn't find it again. Thanks!

How aren't the police filing charges? If your neighbor that you knew well walked into your home and took your baby back to their home without your permission, they would be charged with child abduction.

This is a STRANGER! She waltzed in a hospital room and took a baby. HOW aren't charges being filed? What kind of a backwoods hospital is this?

Well, after reading the stories and watching the videos, I fully support this mother and I think she should find the best attorney in her state and sue that hospital for negligence. This hospital is not taking any responsibility for allowing this nut job from taking an ill child from her hospital room. Yes, the mother had a duty to watch her child, but the hospital also holds a duty to protect children from abduction. This hospital needs to change their practices ASAP.

The last story that was a true kidnap from a hospital was Carlina White. And that happened in 1987, and she was reunited 23 years later. I sure hope they find this baby and alive as well.

The baby was across the hall and the mother has her back.

The baby was found immediately. But that isn't the problem, as far as I am concerned.

The hospital is acting like this is not a big deal. The nurses were laughing with the kidnapper. And the police said they investigated and it's ok to kidnap a baby apparently.

This is absolutely insane.
