i was wondering if anyone has tried the horse trail at ft. wilderness. my daughters have never rode horses i thought this would be fun. in your experience, it it worth it? how long does it last? how much does it cost? and what exactly do you do? i'd appreciate any info. thanks alot. :p

I don't have any info.........................but I do ride my horse, and any form of riding is worth it!:p

My daughters and I rode in Feb. While it was fun, my oldest had hoped to do more than just walk. I guess with all the libality now a days they have to be careful. The horses never moved over a walk. I had hoped to see some different scenery, but I believe we just walked in a BIG circle in the woods for the hour. Never even saw any animals, though we kept looking.

It was a fun time away from the parks, and relaxing. But my daughters were looking for something a little faster paced. For someone who hasn't ridden it would be great. No need to be nervous.

Camping at Disney World Board includes all the Fort Wilderness activities too. Take a peek over on that board for lots more information! :D

My daughter went riding at FW several years ago when she was 10 or 11 years old. She had never ridden before, and loved it so much she went again the next year. I'm not sure of the price now as that was several years ago. I think it was about $9.00 then (1990). I'm sure the price has gone up.:earsgirl:

WE rode this past Oct. It was fun except for the extremely rude CM at the stables who embarassed us in front of the whole "clan". I wrote a letter about her to WDW. She did apologize, but didn't do it in front of the others which she should have. Besides that, my 9 yo loved the ride. It is like walking in circles in the woods. The worst part of the horse ride is in the corral because some of the horses don't like each other. One almost "got away" from a woman which scared my daughter. She's only ridden 2x. The cost is $23/person and about 45min ride, I think. If you go, go the first ride in the morning. It'll be cooler and the horses won't be so tired.

My Kids (14 and 12) went riding this past March. It is 23 bucks a person and my kids loved it. The only negative was from my daughter who wanted to go faster than a walk. My son (the older but less of a daredevil) thought the pace was perfect. I dropped them off, paid for them and picked them up an hour later. They said the same thing about the lack of scenery (all in the woods), but I'm not sure what they wanted. (walk by the castle?!! LOL!)

I thought it was worth the price. :pinkbounc
