We went to Lucky Stables when we were in St. Maarten. I can't remember if they had Western saddles available...I seem to recall that it was English only, so be aware of that. I'm not sure about their child policy, as it was just hubby and I. It was a pretty good distance from the ship, but the cab fare was still reasonable. It was a very strange ride...we rode through an oil refinery! We eventually got to the ocean, where our guide took photos. We didn't make reservations in advance, just asked the tourist bureau where to find a stable, then jumped into the cab and left it to chance. I know you can book in advance there, tho'. But I would be a bit worried with youngsters, as the horses were rather hyper. There were loud dirt bikes at the oil refinery, and my horse was nervous and prancing around. But if you have little ones, they might have calmer horses. They said they could either call a cab for our return or we could take a bus. The "bus" turned out to be a van driven by a local. For only $1, you can go anywhere along the "route," which went all the way back to the area near the ship. The driver was really nice and took us as close to the port as he could get, even tho' it wasn't on his usual route (we gave him a nice tip in appreciation).
