Has anyone ever done the horseback ride in Fort Wilderness?

I have always wanted to go horseback riding so wondered if this would be worth it?

We did. My DH and my DDs are inexperienced riders and really enjoyed it. I used to have horses so found it a bit tame. The CMs were really nice and the horses are well cared for. It definitely makes a nice change from the parks.

we did it twice...

same as the above poster, i'm experienced, DD, DS, and DH aren't...

we all had fun!!

it's a slow easy trail ride in fort wilderness - actually i think it was in the area between FW and WL, though i'm not sure..

in any case, it was fun....clearly, since we did it twice -two different visits..

we would have done it again, but it's been so damn hot, we passed...
but if we ever go during a slightly cooler time of year, you'll see us there!!!

My 10 year old son and I did this last December. I think it was the coldest day I have ever experienced in Orlando. I couldn't feel my hands by the time I got on the horse but warmed up quickly. It was a very slow trail which was just aswell as I was actually quite scared! My son loved it and I thought it was really worth the money. We are there in August so might go again but worried this time about it being too hot.

it is hot, though it slows the horses down quite a bit, so that may help your nerves!! :)

i forgot to mention that it's western style saddles (not English, which is what i was trained on)...

it is very easy lazy trail-riding....the horses are slow...although DD got one with a mind of its own....kept going off to the side to eat, and she didn't have any experience to get it to do what she wanted....in the end, she even had to trot to catch up....(one of the CMs got her horse to follow his and trotted to keep up with the rest of the group)..
DD is totally inexperienced, but it didn't scare her....just added to the fun of the ride..

by the way, the first time we did the trail, we had 2 CMs - one very old and very experienced...he was a laugh riot.....had all sorts of stories to tell us along the way..

the second time we had 2 young CMs.....no stories, but we still had a nice time...

it's just a nice easy way to spend time together as a family doing something you probably wouldn't do at home...

Ask her did she have 'Kona' he certainly took advantage of me being a novice too...mind you I think it made it more enjoyable for my kids LOL:rotfl:

Not sure if you have a car but if you do I would make the effort to go to Horse World in kissimmee , we went last year fro the first time and the ride was very good we are all beginners from 12 to 50 and they paried us with horses very well . Cant recall what the price was but I seam to remember it was a good price and they have a web site with more info . Lovely trail through the coutry side and we saw lots of wildlife I think this is one for our list again in august .

Hi there
We were thinking of doing the horse ridding at FW resort in Jul but have a query. Our dd will only be 8 and a half but will meet the height restriction. will they want to see proof of age or will the fact she is tall enough swing it.
Has anyone had a child get to do it below 9.
