Hi, we are staying at POP but I was hoping to treat DD7 to a day over at Wilderness lodge & Fort Wilderness. I was planning to visit the petting farm, take DD horse riding, then lunch at whispering canyon, spend some time at Wilderness lodge and then head back over to Fort wilderness for the chip'n'Dale campfire.

Can anyone advise on transport around Fort wilderness?
Is what I plan ok, or will it be too much travelling back and fore?
Is there a better order or time of day to do the activities?

Looking forward to your responses, thanks.

I believe you have to be at least 10 years old to ride the horses. There is a schedule for the campfire on the camping board.

They have pony rides there too. Go over to the Camping board for more info on Fort Wilderness.

I would suggest taking the bus to MK then the boat launch to WL if that's your first stop or stay on as Ft. Wilderness is the next stop. You can walk between those two resorts via a trail. There is also a color coded internal bus system at Fort Wilderness.

Don't forget the Trails End buffet at Ft. Wilderness too as a dining option. Its reasonable and been getting a lot a favorable comments here on the boards lately.

We had planned to make similar stops at Ft. Wilderness, but got caught by rain so we spent time at WL including the game room there.

I think my nephews ran into a problem where they were too young for horses but too big for ponies. Just a suggestion...

Sorry but the petting farm has been closed for several years. Everything else is doable here's the information.

Horseback Riding:
Take a guided trail ride through the woods at the Resort & Campground. Guided horseback
rides are offered 6 times daily (8:30, 10, 11:30 a.m., 1, 2:30 and 4 p.m.) at the Tri-Circle D Livery at Fort Wilderness.
The rides, which cost $42 per person, last approximately 45 minutes. Riders must be at least
9 years old and 48 inches tall and can weigh no more than
250 pounds.
Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance. It is strongly suggested that you
wear long pants and that you do not wear open-toed or heeled shoes.

Pony Rides:
Take a leisurely pony ride with an accompanying adult at the lead. (Ages 2 and older.) $4.00

Chip'n Dale's Campfire Sing-a-long:
Gather 'round the campfire with your nutty pals for songs and fun, then watch a classic Disney movie under the stars. 8:00p.m. *Note:Campfire starts at 7:00 PM during the Winter months.
