the new one or the old one?The Shining.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre came in second. I laughed basically the whole time through the movie!
Halloween, John Carpenter version.
13 ghosts can ALWAYS scare me though. I hate that movie.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Original is pretty good.
i'm watching john carpenter's halloween right now. it inspired this thread. lol
The Return of Michael Myers (#4 I think)? Because it's on AMC right now and that's what I'm watching.
I'm really picky about scary movies. Some I find just funny. I laugh during any that have possessed Chinese kids or just really bad plots. I actually think the Saw series are my favorite horror movies. I think they do present a valuable life lesson.
Good, confusing plot + gore = good horror movie
yeah, i'm watching that one now too. its not as good as halloween1, but its okay.
saw isn't really "horror" in my opinion. more of a thriller.i do like the original, and maybe up to #4, but at this point i def. think they're just living off the franchise in making more.
i like nightmare on elm street, becuase the whole premise is that if you're not scared of him, he can't hurt you.
the omen was good too (the original) but not so much because of the plot, but because of the filming itself. many of the REALLY scary scenes weren't really in the script, but were done on set. like when the baboons are around the car, and the lady starts screaming, well a baboon had gotten into the car and was pulling on her hair. they got as much film of it as they could, before sending in the animal control people to get her out. so her screams were real terror.
and the original, uncut exorcist is amazing, especially when she crabwalks, backwards down the stairs and her head spins around. omg i love that scene.
i like jeepers creepers, for a more modern one, i like it becuase he's not killing people just for kicks. he's harvesting them and using them.
and audition is the best japanese horror movie, ever. if you've ever had a crazy ex girlfriend, you'll appreciate her a lot more after that movie.
while i don't like jason very much, if you're after blood and gore, he's the only one that ALWAYS delivers, as well as mike myers.
Yeah, the 5th Saw was definitely just made to lead into the 6th. If the 6th doesn't deliver, then the series will basically be dead since most people are losing interest in it.
And most older movies are really good.. I definitely agree I love Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, ect. However I hated the original Exorcist. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention to the movie, but it just felt really fake to me.
I hate them all. I cried during When A Stranger Calls (the newest) - it was a packed theatre.
I remember watching Jeepers Creepers home alone with my best friend when we were about 10. Her older brother popped up at us from behind the couch.I remember my dad forcing me to sit down and watch The Shining with him when I was 8 or 9. About 2 years ago, during broad daylight, I screamed bloody murder while watching the latest remake of The Amityville Horror. Final Destination (all of them) haunted me for days.
I'm a wimp.![]()

the exorcist, for its time, was a really really in-your-face disturbing movie. (especially with the 8 year old girl stabbing her crotch with a crucifix) i think you kind of half to watch it with that on your mind. .
old amityville sucks. no one died in the whole movie. it was just this creepy house saying "get out" and they did.wth? thats not a horror movie.
final destination is kindof cheesy i think.
and i LOVE the shining. jack nickelson is the scariest man in the world.
I am too! I was screaming at parts in Prom Night..in broad daylight..in my living room.
Jurassic Park scares me for crying out loud! lol But that's a whole 'nother story.
But yeah, I can't handle scary movies. At all.
lol. yeah, that was one scene that stuck with me.***. I need to re-watch it.. I definitely don't remember that scene. Apparently I wasn't paying much attention.
I never saw the older version, but the newest was pretty creepy. Final Destination was cheesy, but I let my imagination run a wee bit too far on that one. For The Shining, the part I lost it was with the whole "red rum/murder" thing. Also, when the dad was trying to break free after being locked up by the family (I hope I got the right movie? I've only seen it once and that's as much as I plan on watching it!) really sent me over the edge.
Yeah. I will watch any other movie, but horror movies are a no for me.
