I read an article this morning about a 17 year old boy that killed his 10 year old brother. I would post a link, but it's really gruesome. If you google Rising Sun, Indiana teen kills 10 year old brother, you will get the article. In the article it states the 17 year old liked a show about a serial killer and said he related to him. :(

That poor little boy. :sad1:

Just making a guess here since I don't want to read the article, but was the show Dexter?

This was pretty local so it's been on the local news a lot. It's so incredibly sad. The 17 year old also wanted to kill his father. After he did this to his brother he went to his girlfriend's to give her jewelry. He was recently removed from the high school where he was an A and B student. I will never understand how someone could do this to another human being, much less someone they are a sibling with.

I read the article, and yes, it was Dexter. What a horrible story. :sad1:

That is sickening, i'm sorry I even read this, ugh......:sad2:

17 and so very cold.

I can't imagine what the parents are going through. I would have to be on medication. It's too much to bear.

Horrible :sad2:

I used to teach middle school and there was a boy that my co-worker and I used to say we could see being a future sociopath. Like if we ever read an article in the paper about him someday being a serial killer we wouldn't be surprised. He was just off. This boy also had 2 brothers that were totally normal and his mom was really nice.

I wonder if this kid has always been a little off too?

ETA - I just googled the article and the boy said he had wanted to kill someone since he was 13. So sad.

It makes you wonder. He looked somewhere between smug and a Mona Lisa smile in his mug shot. He's off now. That's for sure.

It's a terrible tragedy. People are going to want to know "why", and there is never going to be a reason that makes sense. Some people's brains are just not wired right. That's all there is to it. It's in their make up. I don't think a t.v. show is to blame. That's ridiculous.

I do think some warning signs were not taken seriously enough. In the article, it states that he had planned to stab his father to death also. The father apparently woke up one night and found his son standing over him with a knife. He stated that this behavior was consistent with how the son had been acting the past few weeks. I don't know about you people, but if that situation happened to me even once, my son would have been in a psych ward, undergoing evaluation immediately.

There's going to be a lot of finger pointing and accusations of missed signs. In the end, we will never really know what the trigger at that particular moment was.

Oh, that poor little boy :sad2: :sad1: To die at the hands of your own sibling (or any family member) is horrifically sad.

I read where the boy was standing over his sleeping father, but I didn't know he woke up! Yes. The knowledge was there, the boy should've been locked up in a psych ward, evaluation, treatment, something. I'm sure the father is agonizing over that now. I wouldn't be able to sleep for worry about the welfare of everyone in the house after something like that. Certainly wouldn't turn my back on someone like that, much less let him pick up a child from another place.

But, what's done is done. It can't be changed. :( :sad1:

How sad a poor 10 year old was a victim of a crime like that. Not a good way to start off my Friday!!

That is just awful. That poor little boy and the poor parents. I cannot even imagine.

I don't think I'm going to read the article - too sad..:(

But I did want to mention to those who say he should have been locked up or in a mental facility, it's just not that easy.. Many mental facilities will only hold a patient for 30 days (if that) - while the insurance company is screaming non-stop (if the parents have ins. that covers mental health) - and until he actually commits a crime (such as this one), it would be extremely difficult to even have him commited to a youth detention facility..

Mental health care in this country is sorely lacking.. This is a perfect example..:sad2:

I bet Dexter gets cancelled... I never really wanted to watch it but less so now.

agnes!
