Horrible table last year at rotation

We do plan to stop by on embarkation day and check out the location--have never done this before, glad I visit the board. One observation--it wasn't a "bad" table, strictly speaking, but we were up against a wall in AP and the show just isn't the same from that close up--the "vanishing wall" technology is a visual illusion that is best observed at a distance. But since DS, now 9, has seen the show a few times, and has seen the Travel Channel special, he knows how it works and I would not bother to change just for that reason--but that's us. If it would be DS's 1st cruise and I knew that it did not look great up against a wall, I would request a relocation.

Agree--serving stations are everywhere--tough to avoid, but convenient when you need another fork.

I agree that you can overplan a vacation and trying to pick the perfect table on the perfect rotation gets into that overplanning category. For everyone who is going to get on board and look at their table location in Parrot Cay (because that is the restaurant open for lunch) remember there are two other restaurants. Your table is probably not going to be in the exact same location in each of the three. We have had tables where we had a window in Parrot Cay (yes it is dark and there is nothing to see) and were back by the kitchen in Lumiere's. I think they try to accomodate everyone and move the tables around a little bit. I don't think there is a way around your table being by a serving station -- there are just too many of them. My advice is not to stress over it. A great serving team and great tablemates more than make up for location of the table.

Thanks for all the advice. I never thought to make a complaint last year on our cruise. It honestly never occurred to me anything could be changed. We were a party of 6 and I did not think the whole party could be accomadated. Plus we had awesome servers we just could not see any of the shows our they put on. Since we did not have to worry about being in anyones way we just stood up to see.

Like I said, I think what upset me the most was the CM's that were cruising to fill up the ship and they had only booked weeks before and they got a window seat. They upset me. We booked over a year in advance and thought we would get a nice table. Naive me thought if you booked in advance you would get a god table. This is not true at all. When I called the CC number they told me what my friend from the other board said. That they do start to assign tables at 2 weeks out.

Her advice--move, move, move!!! She said in 45 cruises, she's only been stuck twice, but she recommends going to the head server or maitre d' and getting a change accomodated. Life, and cruises, are too short. And then we decided if we ran into the people we'd ditched, we could apologize and blame the whole thing on our son ("we're so sorry, he just wasn't comfortable, you how how children can be, why, I thought your comical anecdote about how you made friends in prison was delightful dinner banter, but children just don't understand. Do enjoy the rest of your cruise...")
