Stayed at POP Century on 1/7/05 for just 1 night (thankfully), and am sorry to say it was a horrible experience. I generally don't complain about a hotel as long as the room is somewhat clean and there is a bed, I am happy.
Upon coming home at 1am from PI/Downtown Disney, my gf went to jump in bed and when pulling back the sheets, stuck her hand in a rather large, crusty, whiteish/yellow stain, on the sheets as well as part of the blanket. I can understand not changing sheets everyday when the same guest occupies the room, however not changing sheets between guests is totally unacceptable. It was obvious these sheets had not been changed, and what is even more shocking is how housekeeping could miss this large, 4-6" in diameter, "spot"!
We immediatly called the front desk and asked for new linens and a manager ASAP, while explaining the problem. I was very calm and polite on the phone, after all not front desks fault. They assured me sopmeone would be right up. 1:45am: still no sheets, phone call, or anything else. Called desk again and was put on hold for 5 minutes. CM came back and said linens were on the way, however managers were only sent to the rooms for "Serious" problems at night. Well, somebody elses body fluids in MY bed, is a serious problem.
Finally we got an unsypathetic call from the front desk manager, offering us a 1pm checkout and 25% off. The gesture was nice, however a fast acting manager would have not made us wait around until 2:30AM for a useable bed.
Other downsides to POP, which WERE expected, as it is a Value resort:
A) Horrible bus service - large crowds, inconsistant pick ups, no organization with regards to lines of people waiting, etc.
B) Loud neighbors all nite - again this wasn't a bid deal because it certainly is NOT Disney's fault. Value resort = kids/families = noise.
On a better note, we stayed at CSR the next nite, and everything was perfect. This trip was basically for me and my gf to decide whether it would be worth getting annual passes to make for a couple inexpensive weekend getaways over the year. POP has made an otherwise easy decision more difficult.

I'd say so.
My son and I stayed at POP for one night last August and we did not care for it. We stayed in a preferred room (building next to the Hippy Dippy Pool-when facing food court on the right) on the backside of the building and found the resort to be very spread out. We stayed at AS Sports a few years ago in the SURFS UP building ( I think #6) and it did not feel spread out at all. We walked out our room and were at the bus stop or food court in just a couple minutes. Also, the beds at POP were awful. They felt like Flintstone beds. If you push your hand down on the mattress you could feel the springs. Worst night sleep. The only two positive things-bigger, newer TV's and love that Tie Dye Cheesecake. How cool!
