I am in misery. Since about midnight Sunday night I have had the worst heartburn/indigestion EVER. I have tried Pepto, Zantac, Tums, drinking milk and nothing works. Right now it is mild but when it "flares" up I feel like puking. I have never experienced anything like this before in my life. Please help! I don't know what else to try!

I knew a weekend of ball park food would bite me in the ***.

Visit your doctor, you can probably get a prescription for something stronger than OTC meds. You can also be checked to make sure it's nothing more serious, like gastritis (which can take up to a week or more to heal)

Go to the Dr. could also be your gallbladder.

Prevacid was just recently take out of prescription and put over the counter. It works pretty well and shuts off the tummy acids which stir things up.

Also, maybe some Gas x might help with some of the indigestion as you wait for the Prevacid to kick in.

I agree with the prevacid, or you can try prilosec as well, which I've been using for many years.

Don't let this go on for too much longer without seeing a doctor!

Go see the doctor, and also consider elevating just the head of your bed. DH raised our bed when he started having bad heartburn, and it makes a huge difference.

stop with the milk, milk is acidic and hard to digest.

Agree with the DR, regular heartburn/indigestion from weekend food shouldn't last 2 days.

I thought milk coated the stomach which is why I was drinking it. lol

I will get some prevacid at lunch and see if that helps.

I have had occasional heartburn before but this is unbelievable! Grrrr!

Although it's unlikely, sometimes heart attacks have symptoms similar to indigestion, especially in women (just google it and you'll see all the articles). If you aren't feeling MUCH better pretty quickly I think a visit to your doctor is warranted. It probably is just indigestion, but I think I would err on the side of caution here if you have such severe symptoms.

Hope you feel better soon.

I used Prilosec for many years and it was wonderful, until I recently developed an allergic reaction to it. Don't drink milk, it will make the indigestion worse. You could be experiencing a bit of acid reflux too.

I agree with the others about seeing your doctor. I currently take Zegerid which just recently became over the counter. One pill in the morning with a glass of water an hour before eating and I'm good for the day. I still watch what I eat but a little spicy food now and then doesn't hurt me.

Not to be an alarmist -- but this is the first thing I thought of as well. Hope you are better soon.

I immediately thought heart attack too. Please see a dr especially if none of the hearburn meds are helping and it's gone on this long.

This is what I was thinking, too. My friend had a heart attack last week, and her only symptom was indigestion. After two days of indigestion, she passed out in the bathroom, and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. She is only 48, the picture of health, and the last person in the world you would think would have a heart attack. One artery was 100% blocked which is what caused her heart attack.

I hope you'll give this some thought and see your doctor. It could very well be your gall bladder, too.
