Horrible Disney news.....

It isn't being reported on the station I usually watch. www.wftv.com It also isn't mentioned in the Orlando Sentinel.

So I wonder if it really happened?

Perhaps one should consider waiting until charges have been laid, a trial held and guilt determined prior to condemning anyone?

There seem to be quite a few judges, juries and jailers out here.

We've been following all the 'typical' news too, and no one else is reporting this. The Sentinel doesn't usually pass up a chance to point out 'Disney' problems, so I'm curious about it's origins, too.

Definitely NOT saying anyone isn't telling the truth, but I'm withholding judgement until there is more evidence than we seem to have so far.

My thoughts exactly!

They must have just added it then. I did a search about an hour ago and it wasn't there.

Same here. Simon just found it on the Sentinel right after I posted.

All the reports say "it is being inestigated, no arrests have been made." I think there may be more to this story than we know or is being reported. Especially since they allowed her to call a friend. I think that if there wasn't a lot of "grey area" to this case they surely would have been arrested and charged immediately. Reportedly, all the men are cooperating with the police investigation...which again indicates to me that there is more going on here. I won't jump to any conclusions until they are actually charged with a crime.

It just seems that if there was physical evidence they would at least have been arrested.

ME, TOO!!!

I admit being irked that Disney is being dragged into this. If it were any other company, do you think the alleged culprit's (or victim's) employer would be in the headline?

You'd be amazed. I am quite familiar with the 'rape process' and it isn't as easy to make an arrest as you might think. Physical evidence doesn't tell anyone whether or not it was consentual. Even bruises don't count. There can be plenty of 'evidence' without an immediate arrest. :headache:

That said, I always believe the woman has a viable claim until proven otherwise. Sometimes that's a quick process, sometimes it takes a while, and sometimes, no matter how 'obvious' it might be, it's never proven. Just because the men are cooperating doesn't mean they aren't guilty; just because the woman made a claim doesn't mean they are guilty. It takes time to work it out since it's her word against theirs.

Don't read too much into her being allowed to call a friend. A woman NEEDS a friend at a time like that (the questioning process is brutal beyond words, on top of everything else), and maybe she doesn't have any family in the area.

I'm waiting for an arrest too. But I know well enough an arrest or no arrest doesn't 'prove' anything. It's just one step in the process.

Obviously you have no idea how these investigations work. :( :worried:

I understood the article to say the 'men' allowed her to call a friend, not investigators.

While the story is distressing, think I'll wait til more facts are available before
jumping to any conclusions---the story is pretty nebulous at this point..JMHO

I was just going to say this. I am a person who really pays attention to the details of a news story, and from what I read, it seems suspicious. It says she was grabbed and forced to the apartment, but then the reporter made it a point to mention how she had asked them to stop several times. Also this quote from the sheriff: "For all practical purposes, it essentially was a gang rape."

What practical purposes? She was either grabbed and brutally ganged raped, or there are some parts if this story we are not getting.

:confused3
I am NOT defending the men. Obviously no means no, and they took it too far. But I think we will find this is not a "woman grabbed off the street" situation. She probably went back to the apartment, willingly and with some ideas, but at some point, changed her mind. She then said stop, and they should of then stopped. It is now rape.

My point is, I don't think these men were sexual perverts out prowling for a woman to grab.(meaning Disney is hiring serial rapists) I think, everything may have started out consensual, and went WAY too far.

Which is still a crime if at any point she said no.
