I am planning a trip in October with my mom and 2 sons. My older DS and I have APs, the little one is under 2. My question is for my mom's park admission. Is it a better deal to get her a hopper pass (does a 5 day hopper exist?) or should she go with a length of stay pass?

How many days will you be staying? Will you be going into the parks on your arrival and departure days? And will you be visiting the water parks and disney quest?

Yes there is a 5 day hopper pass. In most cases this is by far your best value for a short vacation. There are several ways to get discount on these as well. Try the Budget Board, someone there will know the current best deal.

Our first trip (well, first since they did away with the ticket for each ride) we bought length of stay passes, but I won't ever do that again. On the trips where we don't have annual passes, i prefer to buy Park Hopper passes, 5-day, because the unused days never expire. That way, If for some reason we don't make it to a park to use up all the days, we have a day left for another trip. If the weather turns really bad or someone gets sick the pass day isn't wasted. That's what we do. I didn't know any better the first trip.

UPH's are great if you plan on using it to the fullest. We don't go the the water parks or DQ so for us it really is a waste. If you think you will only do the 4 parks then a PHP is the way to go.

Hopper for my family too! Again mainly because unused days never expire. The length of stay pass is good if you don't intend going back or if you were to use it constantly but I feel with the hopper you've always got the option if you're not "up for it" of not feeling you have to go to get full value for money!

I have never been able to figure the advantage of a length of stay pass -- by which I assume you mean UPH. You pay a lot more just to know you can go anywhere anytime and when you leave it's worthless.

It seems you can do just as much with a park hopper and you can save leftover days. We once saved days for 7 years.

I would go with the hopper unless you plan to REALLY use the UPH . If not I think it is a waste of money.
If you don't use all of your days on yur hopper pass you can save it forever and use it next time you go. In fact I have two that I will be using next time we go... one from 1989 and two days from the 90's. I also feel like I'm getting a great deal since they were muchb cheaper back then.

UPH is for us. We're getting in around 2p on our first day, leaving at 5p on our last day, and plan to spend every day in a park or two as well as hitting a water park (after spending the morning in a park).

If your plans don't look like ours then don't use UPH. It will be overkill. And with an older person she may just decide to take a day off and lay around the hotel. Some people forget how much stamina it takes to survive WDW.

We used the 5 day park hopper plus(with 4 plus options) passes during our first trip. I'll never do that again. We were there for a week so two days we could not go into a park. After spending a day at the pool or water park, we really wanted to go to one of the parks to catch the fireworks or parades. Couldn't do that without "wasting" a day.

My son wanted to go to Disney Quest but it wasn't included with the hopper pass so we didn't go.

By the end of the trip I was sick to trying to get the most out of the passes. On our last day we ended up going to Epcot for one hour. "Wasted" a day but we had a blast. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

From now on we'll go with the UPH, 10 day or 30 day pass. I love the freedom to come and go as we please. It'll cost more in the long run, but we'll enjoy the trip more.

We used the 30 day pass during our Easter trip and they were great. We went to Disney Quest several times.
