Hoping to get some clarification on cancelling special event tickets.

Maybe it depends on the reason, but I was supposed to attend the MNSSHP back in 2016 and couldn't go because I ended up having surgery. They gave me a refund. But that was ages ago and I had a medical reason. We rescheduled our trip to February from October, but there aren't parties in February so they gave me a refund.
Medical doesn’t always work. My husband fell at the hotel and we were in the ER during our Jollywood Party. No refund, of course, but we were able to use the value for the following year’s Jollywood. But, we would have preferred to use it for the Sip and Savor at California Grill. We were told no, that it had to be a special event (not an enchanting extra).

I will talk with Disney to be sure but is it still the policy that money will be available for a future event if we don’t show? I have plans for one of the CPs but it is possible one, two or all of us won’t be able to make it and I won’t know for a couple months. I am good buying tickets and having them as a future credit if we cannot attend. But want to be sure that will happen. What if two go and two don’t. I assume the he value of the two will be there?
The official policy is the T&C of your ticket, it is non-refundable.

Disney historically allows people to use the funds on other tickets in the future, but this is not guaranteed in writing anywhere. Also, when you apply them to another party ticket you are subject to availability. If the party you want is sold out, no go.

Precovid Disney would refund no refundable stuff if you had a great reason. Disney now appears to be credit only but a valid reason isn't generally required
