Hoping someone can offer some advice

Just back from WDW last night. I brought 6 memory cards with me. I like to take a day or two of pics, then switch, just to be safe. Well wouldn't you know, in the middle of day two I went to take a pic and my camera says:
Card Setup -- Power off or Format. I also tried to upload my photos since I'm home and it doesn't automatically open Adobe. When I go to that drive, it tells me it's not formatted. I'm sure I already know the answer, but are all my pics gone? Is there any program or something that will possibly retrieve some or all of these pics?

the photo recovery section of the software is free to use, I've used it to recover photos on cards that were formated...
