after seeing the posts about international owners getting expiring points extended I got to thinking

we have end of Jan booked at our home resort--we used our 82 points I had banked last year and used some from of this UY points we have an aug UY

but now with cases going through the roof yet again--were having second thoughts about even going--we were planning on just doing a resort stay--no parks--

a little back ground my DH had covid last year--also for the last 15 years or so had issues with this heart where it would go into fast heartbeat--but it would be years in between it happening--well covid made it happen sometimes just weeks apart which the dr said would happen it becomes more frequent as time goes on--covid just made this process happen faster--

anyways last month he had an ablation done which has really helped

sorry to get off the track here--
to get back on track--were seriously thinking of cancelling this trip--the cases are out of control and just dont have a good feeling about going--it would be different if things were more "normal" there--but thats not happening anytime soon either

so I was wondering what your thoughts were seeing the circomstances of seeing if we would cancel this trip and have the points go to banking for hopefully a more "normal" trip in 2023

we used our 82 banked points from last year and I cant remember how many points from this year points all I remember is we have 61 points I can banked so my question also is can even if we lose the 82 points I banked last year can I still bank whatever is left--along with the 61 I already know I can bank

sorry for this being so long--trying to keep track is so confusing--
one more also--what is this I think its called RIC what is that all about--I really hate just to let those points exprire--
just wondering what you thought if MS letting me cancel the trip and banking all the points

You could try to rent out the reservation on redweek. People have had some success there.

Unfortunately, I don’t think we are going to see the exceptions that we saw continue.

There is just no way to provide it for owners and keep the system in balance. The change for international for extension to May 2022 was because they could not enter the country,

Now, I can see them begin to make exceptions for holding and even allowing banking beyond the deadline. But, I don’t see any policy change in them giving owners their own points to replace expiring points since resorts and parks remain open.

If they begin any types of policy change like that, I think we would then see more restrictive policy to borrowing..even to banking down the line.

If you are doing a resort only visit, you would likely be ok. Check with doctor on any restrictions.

DH and I did VB for several weeks (?a month?) last winter and have another long trip scheduled split between VB, SSR and HHi this winter. We bought groceries for easy meals, picked up a few meals, walked a lot on the beach or walking trails and enjoyed the warmer temps. Never felt unsafe. This year should be even safer because we are vaxed and boosted. Probably safer there than home.

With you having an August use-year, your points are already valid for a longer period of time than the International Members who are literally blocked from travelling. There is a clear difference between them.
