(Hopefully small) problem with my Travelocity booking - help!

I just called and booked my room using the promo code RMN15 (thanks TripPlanner2!) and got a great deal :cool1:

However, when I received my confirmation email, I noticed that my last name is spelled incorrectly. Phonetically, it's correct though. Is this going to be a problem?

I also booked two rooms with Travelocity, 1 for my family and 1 for my parents. My family is driving down and my parents are flying. We are all arriving on the same day, but my parents should get there about 6 hours ahead of us. The problem is that because I was securing the reservation and using the code, I am down as the primary contact on both reservations. I realized after that my father's name isn't anywhere on the reservation! Is this going to present a problem for them when they go to check in ahead of us??

I tried to call Travelocity. They said that they put a note in about the name being a typo, and it really shouldn't present any problems. They also said though, that because I used a promo code, there couldn't be any name changes so they couldn't even change my surname spelling :sad2: So I didn't even bother asking about adding my parents' name, since I thought that I'd just call Disney myself. I need to confirm Magical Express for my parents, as well as request connecting rooms (if that's even possible through Travelocity). So I tried to call Disney. The CM told me that she can't access my reservation at all since it was done through Travelocity :confused3 I told her that I have my Disney confirmation #, but she still insisted that she can't help me.

So in a nutshell, what I'm worried about:

Major worries: Arranging ME for my parents; parents not being able to access anything until I show up quite a few hours later

Minor worries: Changing typo on surname; room requests

Help!

(I also tried accessing my res. through the Disney site, but it's not cooperating. I heard before that it doesn't like Canadians for some reason )

Yuck! This is one of the major reasons why I do not book with an outside agency...especially with a 3rd party one like Travelocity.

I studied to be a travel agent in college (I am NOT one, however). With agencies and 3rd party bookings (Travelocity, Priceline, etc), places like Disney CANNOT make changes to your reservation - changes can ONLY be made through the booking agency. So, even adding Magical Express might prove to be an issue. (I do not know much about it - but do you HAVE to prebook it - or can it be just picked up at the airport?)

I think if it were me, my greatest concern would be that Disney can not SEE the reservation. Give it a day and call them back - make sure they can at least see it. If they can not, how can you be 100% confident that there is indeed a reservation?

Good luck!!!

Magical Express is not a problem. There is number on the reservation confirmation to call M.E. directly, and it is explained during the booking process that it can be used. So OP, just call them. You'll be able to give all the names and arrival info. I've had to call myself a few times when Disney messed it up and it was too close to the trip date to fix it on their end. It's really easy.
Secondly, Disney not being able to access the reservation is really no different than when you use a travel agent. When you use ANY 3rd party including TA's, you have to make changes through them and Disney will not give you info when you call. I can pull up my Travelocity reservation on the Disney site. It's there.
I think the main thing is to know the terms and limitations upfront.

OP, call Travelocity again tomorrow, explain your situation again, and ask them to note on the reservation that your parents are checking in first. However, I suspect you are going to have to be there to do it with them since everything is in your name. They may be able to add a note, but I wouldn't count on it if they can't change the name.
OR since you can cancel with no penalty until you are closer to the trip, you might want to ask them to cancel it and rebook it listing you on one room and your parents on the other so they can check in themselves. Just make sure you inquire about the specific terms in the refund process before you cancel and rebook.

Okay, well I just called and cancelled my parents' reservation. I'm going to give my father all the information to call tomorrow to book it himself.

Now, do you think the typo on my surname is going to present a problem? It's a 3-letter typo, but it still "sounds" the same.

If you're flying its a major problem. If its just hotel reservations, no worries. My name is never spelt right! Call the hotel and let them know in advance. They really only care about your credit card going through!

Nope, not flying, it's just a room reservation. With no FD, we are doing everything piece-meal this trip, trying to get the best rates :)

The trip is all pre-paid through Travelocity, although I can cancel up to 6 days before for a full refund.

If you are worried about the spelling of your name and you can cancel without penalty - how about cancelling and rebooking with the correct spelling?

I called Travelocity to request connecting rooms for the 2 rooms I booked awhile ago and the agent asked if I had called the resort direct.

Said I had not (as I understood it the resort wouldn't be able to help me since it was booked 3rd party).

He said to hold, then called the resort himself and put in the request. Came back and told me it would be as available (expected response).

Really wasn't difficult to have done and now know it was added.

I know this is an older thread, but now that it's bumped up I wanted to mention....
