Hop or Not?

I love to Hop! I always purchase the Hopper option. But what I'm wondering is, do most people buy the base ticket or the hopper ticket? Do most people just stay put in the park they enter first thing in the day?

Just curious!!!

Last year we did five days with no hopping and never really had a problem except for one night when Epcot was super-crowded and we wished we could go somewhere else.

This year we'll be doing 8-days hopping occasionally to maximize what we like to do, as well as ADRs.

We have always gotten the hopper option. That way, when one park gets crowded we can always go to another.

We used to go commando on the parks and do one a day. It was the 9-9 routine. There was a chance we'd head back to the resort/condo, but for the most part we were in the same park all day long. We've since switched to AP's and will never go back. The flexibilty is amazing, especially for WDW veterans. There's nothing like starting of your day in Epcot and capping the night off at MGM w/TOT and Fantasmic!

Hopper, because once we're there I don't want to be limited to where we go. It's just my DD8 and I, so we like to "go with the flow" (even tho as a dedicated DISer I have every moment of every day already planned :cool1: ). I figure it's worth the extra few bucks for our small family to have the option of going where we want, when we want.

I know I am in the minority, but we don't hop. Even when PHPs were the standard we didn't use that option much. We usually make 4-5 trips and enjoy just focusing on one park for the day. I like being in an "Epcot state of mind" or an "MK state of mind"... you get the idea. We don't do a lot of multiple site ADRs so not hopping just helps us save a few bux. More to blow on other stuff

I always go to FL for short periods of time so park hopping works for me. For example, in Dec we were in Orlando for a week, but only visited WDW for 3 days :guilty: I always go to AK for the earlier part of the day and hop to MGM.

Depends on when I'm going. If I go in the summer and the parks are open until 10:00-11:00 pm then I definitely hop. If I go in Novemeber when the days are shorter I concentrate on 1 park and have a late dinner. After dinner my day usually winds down.

before DD4 and DS2 came along, my DH and I hopped. Now that we have them, we slowed down a bit and just do one park one day.

We will be returning to WDW next summer. 8 of us (2.5 - 46) staying at Pop Century. We may have to choose between hopping and waterpark option. I never make adr's. If i have to choose, I will choose the waterparks. :sunny:

Our family loves to hop. Sometimes we go to MK on Sat just to see the parade but would have been in another park during the day due to less crowds. I wish we could not hop and save that money but too hard for us since we have done it every trip so far. Plus sometimes we only do AK in the morning and hop somewhere else in the afternoon. Here's happy hopping.....

We used to hop before kids. Now with our 3 & 4 year old, we just pick a park and stick with it. We go for 8 or 9 days usually, so we have plenty of time to see everything, and if everyone is tired and cranky then we head back for resort/relaxation time so as not to ruin anyone else's vacation. :sunny:

we have PAP's now but Hopping is a must for us a few weeks back we hit 3 parks and a waterpark all in 1 day and did all we set out to do that day.

Back when hoppers were standard we never hopped. The entire family even had AP's and we never hopped. This year only I am getting the AP and the rest are getting base tickets because we find that we never hop.

I was going to Park Hop but after reading TourGuideMike's recommendations, I've altered my 2-days of commando, 1-day of rest, 2-days of Commando touring to a more sedate pace focusing on one park per day. Plus, I'm saving $80 by not adding the Hopper option on the two tickets.

I almost did not get hoppers for our next trip (in 15 days!! :cool1: ), but, then I realized that traveling in July we might actually need the hoppers. I cannot imagine arriving into a crowded park and not be able to leave for another park :sad2: Better safe than sorry!! Now, if we were traveling during September or early December during the low season, I would definitely get base tickets only :)

Oh my - when I first read your post, I thought that you meant when your 4th daughter and 2nd son came along. I was admiring you for making it out of the hotel to any park at all! :ccat: Congratulations on your D4-yr-old and D2-yr-old!
