anyone who has been to it..is it worth it....how hard is it to get into ?? i have heard sometimes there is a 2 year wait....

You can book 2 years in advance but I've never heard of a show being sold out 2 years in advance. Last trip, we saw it and got tickets 2 days before for the 930 show and the bottom was half full. The 730 show wasn't near capacity, either. So it depends on the time of year as to how busy it is.

We love the show, love the food, and think it's great! Plus it's very comparable to other dinner shows (Medievel Times, Dixie Stampede, etc) as far as pricing.

I saw it as a 4 year old, a 12 year old, and as a 26 year old and LOVED every one of them.

We have taken our 3 boys twice. They were never into the Princess meals so HDR was perfect. They are 22, 20 & 18 now and they still talk about how much they loved it.

Corney as all get out--but something that you should see at least once.

Aimeedyan you forgot to mention what time of the year you went. It would help.

We loved HDD! I have never heard my DS6 and DD9 laugh that hard. It is really corney but fun. Our waiter was the best! He made my DD wear a napkin he folded into ears in order to get her dinner. She loved it! The food was good. I would recommend it. It was one of our most memorable nights.

We went at the end of Sept and changed our date and time about a week before we left without a problem.

Just made reservations for our 8th time this June. Our kids (and us too) love the HDD. Our DS 17 is excited because his GF is going with us and he can't wait for her to see the show.

Pretty corny, but lots of fun. My nieces, 3 & 6, loved it when they went in October. I took my nephew in July 04 and made reservations in March or April before. We got front & center seats. The balcony area wasn't even full.

Cheers!

I have a question to about this. On allears website it said that you have to pay in advance, is this true? Also do you think the tickets are worth the $50+ for adults and $25+ for kids? Thanks!!

^ Yes, you do have to pay in advance. IMO, it is well worth the price. As others have mentioned, it is similar in price for other ORL dinner shows.

The food is excellent too! Best of any dinner show I've ever been to. Love that salad & bread, fried chicken, and strawberry shortcake!

Does anyone know what their veggie options are? I heard we can call in in advance for veggie meal, but what would they serve? any idea??

I just went to the Hoop Dee Doo on Christmas Day. I did have a special meal request (although not specifically vegetarian) and they were very helpful. I was told to call the direct line (wdw-dine can give you the #... I don't seem to have it one me) 24 hrs in advance. I did indeed call the day before, and the CM offered some meal suggestions (I didn't even give him a chance to get to the vegetarian stuff) and I decided to go with the grilled fish served with vegetables and a baked potato. I was asked if the strawberry shortcake was ok, too. Well, the next night when I went to the show, I told my server about my special meal when he took the drink orders. He brought the salad and bread and asked me if they were ok (for me, they were, so I don't know what they could've been replaced with). My pre-plated meal turned out to be two 6-oz pieces of grilled mahi-mahi, about 2 cups of steamed mixed veggies, and a baked potato. It was quite tasty and waaaaayyy too much food for me.

I have heard that seating location is assigned based on the time of your reservation - for example the sooner you book the better your seats. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
TIA

^ That's correct. The sooner you book the better your odds of getting a great seat. We booked about 7 months out for a mid-December 7:15 PM show this year, and had great center seats in the second row lower level.

Thank you ImprovGal, my other half doesn't eat meat but seafood is ok (just like you) now I feel better knowing we can enjoy the show and have things we like to eat there. :cheer2:

thank you all..it sounds as though we will be booking ...

I talked to Dh and he said we should go for it! So I booked our reservations a few days ago, we are going in March and had no problem getting a table for the Early show. Thanks everyone for your imput! Now instead of going to something like Medievil times which is about the same price we can keep up with a Disney Theme for the day we won't be at the park!

It is a great dining experience, either as a family or as a couple. We love doing this! I don't believe that it sells out quickly though, I know you can book it 2 years in advance but it has always been easy for us to get reservations when we want them.
