Have done the HDDR several times. My DS LOVES it and the DH loves the drinks

It is a really fun time, great food and loud, interactive atmosphere with all you can eat type meal of ribs, chicken, salad, beans, YUMMY honey butter and cornbread and beer and wine and soda or lemonade (?) . Our servers have been very interactive every time we have gone. You will be entertained from the moment you walk in until final curtain, with a GREAT finale! Your seat will be wonderful wherever you sit so that really is not an issue either (we've been upstairs, main floor, back). You can also "see" a bit of fort wilderness when you go by arriving a bit earlier, see the general store, tiny game room in back of Crocketts Tavern, two or three "stalls" I think one has leather and one makes name rings outside, walk to beach area, plus a photo opportunity before the show begins (they take photo for you to purchase, developed while show goes on).
They took away Mickeys corral (I digress) which used to be wonderful. Other nice thing is you can go by bus (two buses actually, one to get to fort and one internal bus to the hall) OR take lovely boat ride over from MK launch area, if you're at MK/poly/contemp, I think it is 2-3rd stop. DDDR definite Don't Miss especially with kids!
As far as WC goes, we're going for our first time this trip. What I have heard has been mostly positive. What I heard a lot though is that your "experience" at the establishment really depends on your individual server. SO, if you get an "eh" server the experience may just be a meal versus a full blown guarantee of a show. I have heard "skillets" are good so do not think food is an issue except that much more bang at HDDR, Plus drinks (I said that already, right!

)
So, all things considered I'd do HDDR over WC though if I could squeeze in both I would do both.
Whatever you decide have a great time and YUMMY food too!!
