I booked this for our final night dinner. We're on the DDP, so thankfully I don't have to shell out the $81 for it!! However, thoughts, opinions? It's just myself and my DS5 and I'm hoping that he will love it!!

It was a lot of fun for our family. We had two kids 8 and 9 and a little one under a year. They had a good time and the food was decent. The DDP makes it worthwhile I think. Cash payment? Barely.

I would not pay $80 for this - no way!!

For my son's birthday, we do Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel (we live 20 minutes away) and for 3 people, that's $70. But I'm GLAD I have DDP!!

Yes it is, they bring out pitchers for the beer. Light beer only.:thumbsup2

I think you guys should do the Hoop Dee Doo Review. We've gone twice and the food and entertainment was great both times. Lots of singing, dancing and corny jokes. The kids get in on the act too. At one point, everybody is waving their cloth napkins above their head! Another time, the servers give the kids washboards and spoons to play during one of the songs!

The food was really good...fried chicken, bbq ribs, cornbread, salad, beans and strawberry shortcake.

If you have time before or after the show, walk around Fort Wilderness. The store had some unique souveniers. There is a petting area, stables and pretty landscaping.

What Disney characters are in this show?

No Disney Characters - it was a fun evening, good food and plenty of it, server bought some ribs without sauce out for DD5 who didn't like the sauce, had no problem getting three glasses of the merlot (not great but quite drinkable at the price ;) ) and could have got a fourth had I wanted it.

A nice change of pace and atmosphere, certainly worth a platinum credit...

No Disney characters but the entertainers are "in character". There's the pretty, silly lady singer/performer, the good looking male singer/performer, the I wanna be good looking lady singer/performer and the slightly overweight funny male singer/performer. Very entertaining indeed!

...I find it funny that they offer all the beer/wine you can drink too. Now, I can understand someone who wants to have a beer and/or wine with their meal, but does it not seem like having unlimited refills on alcohol sets a stage for possible liability?? I owned a bar many moons ago, and I know laws often prohibit unlimited refills on alcohol (i.e. Drink & Drown nights, Ladies drink free nights, etc.), not to mention the insurance costs and issues you may face for this kind of offering. Also with kids there, it seems the heavy consumption of alcohol could be something the children should not be in the midst of.

It is just a thought that passed through my mind. I am not saying drinking is right or wrong, just saying the unlimited refills on alcohol seem odd when children are present. Has anyone ever seen someone drunk or rowdy at HDDR?? We are planning on dining there on our next trip, but I am concerned about the free flowing alcohol though.

:thumbsup2

I would imagine that people who know their limits, especially since children are present. I don't plan on getting slosshed out of my mind, but hey, it's a vacation, why not have a one or two?

.....if you have ever been in World Showcase at EPCOT after dinner, you may have noticed the occasional offensive drunk walking around who obviously does not share our idea of limits or appropriate conduct around children.....at WS they have to pay for every drink, so if those people were at HDDR it could get ugly when the alcohol is free flowing. Like I said someone having a drink (or even two) with their meal does not bother me, but the thing I would be concerned with are the ones who may see the "all you care to drink" as a challenge rather than a courtesy. Most people do usually show a level of control in such instances, but it's the occasional oddball that could ruin everyone's experience for the evening and possibly cause some liability issues for WDW.

To be honest, the service is not that quick, the show not that long, and the alcoholic drinks available on an "all you can drink" basis are not strong, so unless you load up beforehand or have minimal tolerance for alcohol you'd have a hard time getting obnoxiously drunk during Hoop-de-doo, and there are plenty of cheaper better ways to do that at WDW if that is what floats your boat.

I love the Hoop Dee Doo. It has been one of my favourite disney experiences since I was a kid. The show is really fun and they get the audience involved. The food is good and the drinks are great. If you are looking for a fun and entertaining meal I recommend this one every time. But ask if you can be on the floor level. Busier shows they put people upstairs - which wouldn't be my first choice.

This is my first trip, so unfortunately I haven't gotten the chance to see it before. Although I did live in Vegas for 3 years and have seen lots of inebriated folks in my time living there.....
Granted, I'm sure Vegas drunks are slightly more drunk that those at WDW!!

The show has been running for decades. If this were a problem, it would have reared its head by now. But those of us that enjoy more than one are grateful for your concern, apostolic4life.

My DS10 and I went last year and we are going again this year (March 24). We will be at the 9:30 show. He loved it and asked to go again. Last year he was a "child" and now, by Disney standards, is an "adult". More money (lots more, but it will be worth it). Besides, Easter week, they have RAISED prices on buffets by $3.00 and you don't even get a show. Atleast with this, you get a 2 hour show.
