For anyone who has been to the Hoop lately, can you tell me what the balcony seating is like? Does anybody have to sit with their back to the balcony, or are the table still pushed up all the way against the rails with everyone facing down?

On a related note, has anybody tried to request the balcony with Cateogory 2? We've been many times, but not since the category thing started. I'd prefer the balcony if we can all face the railing...

Thanks! :wizard:

We've been on the balcony twice and prefer it up there. Both times we called
at the last minute and got in. We never book anything ahead of time because
we don't know where we're going to be or what we're going to feel like. It's
better that way for us. :thumbsup2

Wife and I went for our anniversary, and they seated us at the table for two in front of the stage. Best seats ever, if you don't mind a little attention...:cool1:

WE have made a tradition of going to the hoop dee doo on every trip. I have sat in the balcony on most of the trips. I was rather dissapointed with it this past May. They used to sit you on the far side of the table and have you look over the table and down to the show. Now they have you sit on the railing side with all the ppl in your party on the same side of the table. Your back is to the show so everytime they start the show up you have to swing around and turn away from your food. It makes finishing your meal harder when the food is behind you. We also had trouble passing food between all four of us as we put the kids between us and had to reach across them to pass things and speak to each other over their heads.

We were also dissapointed in where they chose to set up the photos before the show this time. They did them in the center of the porch at ground level instead of off the the side. They placed you with your backs against the porch railings so you see the porch floor behind your head. This worked alright for those in the front of the line but by the time they took our photo they were seating ppl inside. In the photo right by all our heads all you can see is ppls feet and shoes. Not exactly a fridge worthy photo which did not really matter because they changed the package as well and it no longer has keychains or fridge magnets in it with the wallet size photo. I don't think it even had a wallet size photo anymore. I have all 5 photos from previous trips lined up on our fridge and to see the change in the girls is great. The new one is not up because it is not the same size, not in a magnet frame and looks awful with all the different colored shoes around our heads drawing the eye instead of the girls faces.

This February we are returning for another trip to the world and for the first time in forever this dinner show is not on our list of ADR's.

On a more positive note we have had some wonderful experiences with the show in the many times we have been. My husband on our honeymoon was picked to play a role and when we went just after Katrina in 2005 while Wilma was blowing through my oldest dd also got chosen to be on stage. We might return someday to see the show again but for now I have been a little soured by the last experience.

We sat in the balcony for the first time last year and we loved it. We just got back and had the balcony seats again. We love it up there.

The cast members do come up there and interact with you. I have sat on the floor many times and think the best view is up on the second level.

We went to the Hoop de Doo 11 years ago and we liked the show but the quality fo the food never made us want to return. I thought we might give it another try this year. Is the seating still determined by when you book it? Can you cancel and get your money back at all?:surfweb: Thanks :hippie:

Thanks, pafer! That's what I wanted to know. We love the corny humor, but don't want to sit with our backs to the show area. My dad's been in the show (once was enough, according to him), and we've actually found the interaction better in the balcony before. Not sure what we'll do now...

1) The folks in Cat-2 balcony & floor
. . . 20% of the seats face the stage
. . . 66% of the seats folks sit side-ways to the stage and turn 90º
. . . 7% of the seats sit facing the stage
. . . 7% of the seats sit with their backs to the stage and turns 180º
2) The folks in Cat-3 balcony
. . . 50% of the seats sit facing the stage
. . . 50% of the seats sit with their backs to the stage and turn 180º

3) The table layout is:
. . . Cat-1 Floor: 41-tables varying sizes
. . . Cat-2 Floor: 7-tables same size, except one
. . . Cat-2 Balcony (rear): 6-tables same size
. . . Cat-2 Balcony (side): 2 tables same size
. . . Cat-3 Balcony (side): 16 tables same size

NOTE: Regardless what people say, about 45% of the Cat-2 and Cat-3 do not sit with a comfortable view of the stage. They must turn their bodies or crank their necks to see. About 12% of the Cat-1 seats must slightly turn to face the stage.

1) Seating is based upon the order (date) in which you book the dinner.
2) You can get a refund up to 48-hrs before the show.
