We booked and paid for the HDR a year in advance. When I called today to let them know it was my father and my husband's b-day I asked if they had tables assigned yet (We are going to be there August 5th). The woman said that it is first come first served as far as seating goes. I dont remember it being like that back in 2004 when we went. I thought if you booked early you got better seats?

She is wrong or you perceeved it wrong. (SP?) When you book they start from the front and work their way to the back. So yes in essence it is first come first serve seating, but the later you book the further back you will be or upstairs. So if you booked a year ago you should be pretty good.

She said that I should get there at least 30 minutes early to get a good seat.

I am glad you said this now I think we should be okay with where we are seated being that we booked so early. Thanks

They always say that. You get there early and get in line and they do their whole spheal outside and then you go in to your table. If you are unsure though call again.

We've been there many times. On our very first visit (back in 1981 ) we made reservations very far in advance and were seated in a table right next to the stage. This has since been our experience two more times. Personally, I'd prefer to be a little further back. We've also been on the second level, which I was not crazy about.

They tell everyone to be there at least a half hour early. And you don't need to be; they just want to make sure everyone is there on time and ready to be seated. And even if you're the last one through the door, your table has already been assigned beforehand, so don't worry about it.
