Hoop Dee-Doo Seating Category Question

I am planning our August trip and would like to go to Hoop-Dee-Doo for the first time. I'm considering booking Category 2 seats. We are a quiet crew and think being a bit away from the "action" would be better for us. I read in very old posts that the ground floor seats in Category 2 are raised and are actually very good, as are the rear center balcony seats. Is that still the case? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think you are any less likely to be part of the action if you are in Cat 2. We went last week and actually most of the people who were part of the action were towards the middle or back of the theater. We were in the front row of tables right up against the stage and I did get teased a little but nothing that made me anxious. They also will not make you go up on stage if you don't want to.

My family and I go a lot because our son of loves the music and food. We always try and sit as close to the action as possible and have never had to go up on stage or been asked where we are from.

I think it is the look of your group rather than where you sit. If someone in your group stands out to the cast then they are going to get picked no matter where you sit.

I believe that Category 1 is the best option because you get the best seats and you are no more likely to get "picked" there than anywhere else.

Hhmmm, the more I hear the less I think going will be a good idea. One of my children has some anxiety issues. She sometimes get anxious in crowds, so I thought if we were towards the back it would be less overwhelming for her.

It's not overwhelming or anxiety provoking. Really. They are experts at knowing who to pick on and who to lay off of. They also feel you out off mike before doing anything. You can just say you don't want to participate very easily.

. . . example: a Cat-1 ressie made in January gets a better table than ressie made in February
. . . example: a Cat-1 ressie made within 7-days of the show gets Cat-1 leftovers
2) There are no requests allowed for tables.
3) The earlier ressies are made, the better table location.
4) Exception: #044 & #045, kept for last minute certain handicapped guests.
5) Distribution of tables and categories, prior to any combining of tables.
. . . Cat-1 tables are main floor back to row8, they are the best seats
. . . Cat-2 tables are the seven tables in row9 on main floor
. . . Cat-2 tables are the last four on left/right wings
. . . Cat-2 tables are the eight rear balcony tables facing stage
. . . Cat-3 tables are the eight tables on both balcony sides
. . . Cat-2 and Cat-3 tables may have posts in the viewing way **
. . . Cat-3 tables require one-half of the table to turn around to see

We were Category 3 (which I loved) with my DS who is disabled and severe anxiety issues.

Entertainers came up by us a few times and we had fun with it but for the most part we were watching from slightly afar.

We did Cat 2 and were in the rear of the main floor, raised a bit so the view was still really good. We didn't have much interaction back there (which was fine with us!)

I have a son with anxiety issues. Now he is older and we love Category 1, but I think that is mostly because he knows what to expect. I would recommend Category 2 or 3 - not because the cast will do anything he doesn't want, but because he doesn't know what to expect - and it is slightly more removed. Category 1 is definitely front and center, even though it doesn't give you a greater chance of being picked or "picked on". I really want to reiterate that the cast is so good at not overwhelming anyone, but you can always mention something to your server!

"Disney Dining Plan: The Dining Plan can be used for the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue for Categories 2 and 3 seating. TWO table service credits will be deducted for these shows. The Dining Plan can also be used for Category 1 seating at the 8:30 p.m. show, using two table service meal entitlements."
