Hoop Dee Doo Revue... Will We Like It?

This is a super, super fun show, and the food was so much better thank I thought it would be . We took my parents to see it a few years ago and we all loved it. Definitley worth it!

I just booked the Hoop de Doo for our December trip. The CM didn't tell me what catagory we are in -- guess I'll have to call back to check. I did have one question -- do they take a family picture there prior to seating? My photopass tip sheet indicates they take photos there that can be added to photopass later. Anyone know if they are still taking pictures there and if so, the cost? Thanks!

We went during free dining and made HDDR the last thing for our trip. It WAS THE WORST FOOD OF THE ENTIRE TRIP. The fried chicken was chewy and ribs were just ok, beans were crunchy. The only thing good was the strawberry shortcake. The show was fine, but we all agreed this was NOT worth 2 table services. We like every other place we ate on the trip, but were desperately wishing we had kept our 2 other reservations instead of this!!! Oh, well, only bad eating experience on the trip.

Tried yesterday for a tier 2 and there is nothing still, but I'm going to call again tomorrow, and again probably soon after the time my final payment is due to see if there are cancellations. If it is still not available, I will try again closer to the trip and I'm not sure yet if I'll cancel or keep the tier 3. I'm still not entirely clear on the seating though... so the tier 3 seats have our backs to the show and then there is a tier 2 stranger sitting across from me at my table?

No, there would be no one sitting in front of you. Your back is to the stage and you have to swivel your chair to see the show. I could probably try to make a little drawing if I'm still making you confused.

If I don't listen to country music and I don't eat meat, will I still enjoy HDDR? Is there a vegetarian option in addition to the regular dinner offerings, or do I just eat the sides? Is the show funny like Billy Hill and the Hillbillies... or not quite so much?

Anyone want to give me a good idea of what goes on at the show, it would be me and my son, he'll be 7 when we go. Is it an audience interactive type thing, or just a stage show or what???

We loved HDDR. We went in April and we are going again next month. We love the Bill Hill show in Disneyland, can't miss it and this did remind me in a lot of ways of that show. Same type of slap stick humor. Its more dancing and there are women and men in HDDR, but I would have to say if you enjoy Billy and the boys, you would enjoy HDDR too.

Your 7 year old would love it. The audience is very much a part of the show in that you clap and the characters come right out into the audience to sing. Somebody gets picked to be part of the show. So yeah, again alot like Billy Hill in that they find people to connect with!

We enjoyed it, I can see how it might not be for everyone. To me its worth two ts credits as much as any of the others are and the fact there is free beer or sangria helps!

The lady next to us had pizza so yes, you can definitely arrange to get something besides the ribs and chicken. I would call Disney Dining to request that be added to your reservation and then when you pick up your tickets at concierge, verify its on there or have them check that for you.

You line up once you get to the area near Pioneer Hall before the show and they take a picture. Its not part of photopass. We got some package that had several pictures. I want to say maybe 4, 3 x 5's and it was around $34 I think. I wanted something to remember the night by so I was glad I bought it!

They are about the same price as the ones they take at some of the character meals. They take it, and then during the show, during a break, they bring them to the table and you can opt to buy them or not. But you get the photos right then and there.

We've been a couple times and loved it both times. We love the fried chicken and ribs, but since you're vegetarian, I won't go into that.

I didn't care for the salad, but I'm not one for Italian dressing. My DW loved it. The cornbread is something straight out of grandma's stove. It was awesome!!!! Unlimited Sangria and draft beer also complimented the show and loosens you up for the finally.

The show is corny with classic songs like "Oh Suzanna", not country western. It's a show type atmosphere. Very comical. The whole family loves the show.

The dessert is a strawberry shortcake and is phenominal. I craved it for a week after we left and am craving it now!

The show wraps up with the servers handing out washboards you get to play with your spoon. I had the privilege of doing so and after numerous drafts...it was apparent I was the best washboard player alive...at least in my eyes!
Friends of ours recommended us to this show and said it's their fav. It's now our fav.

As long as you can get a veggie alternative, then I think it would be well worth it!

It's funny how a few drinks totally increases the "hidden" talents we all have inside isn't it??? My hidden talent is singing at the top of my lungs while dancing....I don't understand why I haven't been picked up by a talent scout yet?!

I guess I am still a little bit confused... hahaha, nothing new here! If there is no one on the other side of the table, what would prevent me from sitting on that side instead of with my back to the show? Why would they put people on only one side of the table and then have that side be facing away?
