We thought we were going to go to the Hoop Dee Doo Review (HDDR) but now my sister is rethinking the 2 TS meals for this. We have four girls (3, 5,7,8) and they all love to get up and get in the show. If anyone knows Dixie Stampeed in Myrtle Beach, they LOVED that, so we were thinking they would like the HDDR.

So can I have some honest opinions on this show. We are staying at WL so it won't be too much of a hassle to get there. Is it worth 2TS credits for children of that age. What about food? Did I read there is alchohol included, is this true on the DP? Any advice or reviews appreciated!

I think it was definately worth 2TS credits! My kiddos age 8 and 7 LOVED it! They could not quit laughing! I actually thought is was very funny myself, maybe not quite as much as my kids, but I would definately do it again! Yes you get alchohol on the DP with this meal. The choices are limited, if I remember correctly it was BudLight, some type of wine, and I got the Sangria....and it is all you can drink :rotfl:

My entire family hated it - it's abysmal in my opinion and so not worth 2 credits.

My family all loved it. We also visit the Dixie Stampeede in Myrtle Beach and like that show. The show is funny. You do get Bud Light or Sangria. Beer was good but my wife did not like the Sangria. I thought the show was worth the 2TS credits.

We liked it, we're going to it for the 3rd time in December. Abysmal? - thats what I thought of the Spirit of Aloha! lol Different strokes :goodvibes

We liked it a lot. I have two kids far apart in age 14yr girl and 7 yr. boy and they both really liked it. My DD was impressed that such a small group of actors could produce so much show! It was a fun night, decent food and they do include a few alcoholic choices. We went to the 7:15 show and afterwards walked down to the beach and watched the electrical light parade. Great ending to a fun evening.

I went for my first time a year ago. I enjoyed it so much that I made sure to book it again for my trip in December. My DBF introduced me to it. His family made sure to do HDDR every trip. My little sister (who was 6 at the time) was with us and really, really enjoyed it. She especially loved the part where she got to make music on a washboard! I'd say the HDDR is definitely worth it! :thumbsup2

The Hoop De Doo is fantastic! As my DGF said, My family has done it every time we visit Disneyworld, at least 10 times. Last summer I made sure my DGF, her mom, and little sis (6) got to experience the Hoop De Doo. They loved it as well. The outside of the building is really great for pictures, and there is a photo op set up by the Disney people, (don't remember the price of it though). You get really yummy bread, or cornbread, then salad, and then the coup de gras, all you can eat ribs and fried chicken. The best part is that while you enjoy this feast, you are entertained by an amazing group of people. The banjo player really knows how to pick it and each performer has a certain role to play and they do it well. Not to mention there is a bit of audience participation and a few "lucky" audience members get pulled on stage to participate in the show. My brother once was pulled on stage and it was great! (maybe that is what took him from being a Doctor to an actor). The songs and show may be a bit corny, but the tunes are catchy, the jokes are funny, and you leave with the songs stuck in your head. Then the grand finale they had out "instruments" for everyone to play and younger kids love to play the washboard, especially us 25 yr old kids.

A fellow DIS person said that it is the longest running non-broadway musical, so that should say something about the show.

There will never be a disney visit that I do not make it to the Hoop De Doo...I have reservations for the earlier Hoop De Doo in december so I can make it to the campfire sing-a-long movie right afterwards. So I say make the reservations and go hungry!!

We LOVED HDDR ...both times we went :teeth: and I really hope to go there again in the future :thumbsup2

Went to Spirit of Aloha once... that was a waste... never again

It may not be the best value but we are doing it too. Figured we should at least try it once. With the age of the kids, they may rather be out in the parks such that they won't miss the "loss" of a TS dining. Using 2 credits may help you use up all the CS credits on a dinner at Epcot one night instead of a sitdown TS meal. I think you're pretty safe since the kids like Stampeede and will be nice to ride the boat over and then boat or bus back to WL. I say do it while you are at WL and have kids young enough to still like corny jokes.

We went in 2004 and for our upcoming Thanksgiving trip this was the only place that was a MUST DO AGAIN on my kids list.

My kids (4,7, 1) loved it and talk about it all the time. We are going again on Thanksgiving day!

I've seen it several times and still love it. It's corny, childish, and the food is messy. It's everything Disney should be!

Sixbits Slocum is my hero! :thumbsup2

Our family absolutely loved it. Our cast of characters included me, DH, DD3, DS8, grandma and grandpa. All of us thought it was great. We were very lucky to have a table on the floor in front of the stage. The food was very good. It isn't fancy, but the chicken was really good. Our whole family laughed the entire show. Yes, it is very corny, but it is great fun. Our whole family recommends it.

We're considering doing this...but it will just be me and my boyfriend (no kids). Is this show mostly for kids entertainment? Everyone keeps saying its "corny" but what exactly do you mean by that? What makes it so corny?

so if we have 7:15 res. can we make it ot the movie/campfire?

HDDR is completely different from the Dixie Stampede. We love both, seeing them each twice. I say go for it.
