Hi
We are planning to do HDDR for the first time in December, we are getting the DDP, do I still have to pay for it or will they just make my ressie without charge?
Thanks
If I remember correctly, they do put a deposit down on your cc as a guarantee for tickets to the show. There are actual tickets for this which will be given to you at check in at hotel. Once you check in they will take 2 TS credits per person for the show and dinner. Your cc will then be credited.
We did the HDDR while we were on the dining plan last September and they did not charge our card. They took our credit card number as a guarantee, in case we didn't show up but they never put a charge on it. We just paid with 2 TS credits while we were there.

It is not worth 2 credits. It is not that the show is not good, it is just that it will cost you $80 worth of food credit for a ticket that only costs 58.99 (and that is for the best seating, if you use your credits you get 2nd best seating). If I were you I would buy the tickets and save the extra meal for your last day at the parks that is not covered by the dining plan because you only get as many meals as you have nights in the hotel.
For the record, I have nothing but praise for the HDDR... it was one of the highlights of our vacation. But looking back at it it would have been cheaper to buy the tickets (and that is what we are doing this time around).

Thanks for your advice, this is a budget trip. We are arriving LATE wed night for 5 nights and dont like to do table services our last day so we will have extra credits that if we dont do HDDR we will lose them
Wed: arrive late, NO TS or CS, eat at PHL airport
Thurs: Whispering Canyon (1TS) MVMCP (1CS)
Friday: Ohana(1TS) Grand Flordian (1CS)
Sat: Somewhere in Epcot(1TS) Breakfast (1CS)
Sun: HDDR (2TS) Lunch (1CS)
Mon: DTD (1CS) then leave for airport
I think it is worth two table service credits personally, we would never pay for the show, nor do we really care about getting the "most" out of the dining plan, we enjoy the dining plan and use it so that we do not have to worry about the cost of food while we are there.
Now as for the original question, they use a CC as a guarantee and will charge it if you do not show up. But otherwise it is not charged.
