Hi there, I will be at WDW in three weeks. So excited.

It will be my husband, two kids (7 & 11 y.o) my parents in law, and myself. We are staying the Polynesian Resort. We've been to Disney many times but never did a dinner show. Since it is our last day of vacation I wanted to do something special. The show is not really my husband's cup of tea but he is willing to go to make his parents and myself happy.

We are looking to book the show for March 13th, on our MK day. We originally, planned to do a half day at the park and around 2:00 head back to the resort to swim and relax (unless the weather is bad), then head back to MK in the evening for fireworks. But if we do the earlier show, we won't have time to head back to the resort. If we do the later show we will most probably not go back to the park for fireworks. I just want to note that Grandma and Grandpa get tired quickly and that is why we had scheduled a break half way through the day. However my mother in law will be in a scooter so she can make it a whole day.

So the question is:
Do I stay in MK and head to FW around 3:15 to catch the 4:00 show. That way it finishes earlier and we can head back to the parks for the evening to watch fireworks?
or
Do we head back to our resort in the afternoon swim, change then head back to MK or to CR to catch boat for FW around 4:45PM for the 6:15 show?

What do you think?

Just keep in mind that it can be a bit of a wait to exit the hoopty doo review. The boats get full, as do the buses immediately following the show. So if time is critical, keep that in mind.
I do enjoy the show, so it's worth the hassle.
Taxi, uber, lyft/minnievan might be worth the additional expense.

I would head to FW at 15:15 hours for the 16:00 show and it is worth it. The jokes are old and corny but the entertainers are so into it. You can feed off of their energy.

Only a Minnie Van takes you directly to Pioneer Hall where the HDDR is held. Everything else leaves you at the front of the Fort and you will have to take an internal bus.

Disney recommends leaving 90 minutes, not 45. You are supposed to check In 30 minutes ahead. I believe 3:15 is too late to leave

Ah, really... I did not realize a Minnie Van would go directly to Pioneer Hall. Perhaps that is worth the extra cost over Lyft? Do you book a Minnie Van in advance? I have sort of not paid attention to it because I thought we'd just Lyft over.... thank you!!

Getting there isn't so much of a problem.....it's getting out in a timely manner that can be challenging.
We boated in from the Magic Kingdom.

I see that I didn’t finish my thought above. I believe- haven’t actually done it- that the Minnie Van maximum capacity is 5.
If you will fit it is definitely worth the cost to be taken directly to Pioneer Hall
You can not book a Minnie Van in advance. You order it on the Lyft app when you are ready to go.
The price went up Sunday to $25

Just read up on Minnie Van... am I correct in understanding it does not operate at the S/D yet? :sad1: Might still be worth the walk over to BWI for direct drop off at Pioneer Hall....

The Minnie Van service has to be activated at a participatory Resort in order to use it. The Swan/Dolphin arenot participating resorts. You can not just walk to the BWI to use it

Do you mean I have to walk to BWI and use the app to request it there or do you mean I can not use it if I am not staying at a participatory resort? :confused3

I mean you can not use it if you have never had the app activated while staying at a participating resort.

Ok, so no Minnie Van service for me from S/D to HDDR... I'll stick to Lyft and take the internal bus at FW.

Ok why would I use Minnie Van when I could just boat over to Ft W from MK? I am staying at the Poly and doing MK that day. I don’t see any advantage to it.

I am going to HDDR in May. Staying at Polynesian Resort and I plan to take water taxi to MK and switch to water taxi to Ft Wilderness for the show. If you are already at MK, I would not go back to Polynesian for an hour or hour and half and then trek back to MK to catch transportation to Ft Wilderness. Just to much effort for such a short period of time.

know you did not ask about ECV at HDDR but be prepared that ECV/wheelchairs enter HDDR thru the Trails End door to the special door into HDDR as all HDDR doors have stairs/ also the bathroom is outside the show building. also if you do not make boat early enough after later show watch the fireworks from the beach then catch the boat

I wouldn’t. If you are already at MK just take the boat. It is a nice relaxing ride

We did HDDR last year for the first time and were staying at the Poly. We just took the boat from the Poly to MK, changed boats and took the Ft. Wilderness boat. Pioneer Hall is just a skip and jump from the boat dock. It took almost no time to get there.

Oh good to know! My mother in law can get up and walk but for short periods of time.
As for fireworks that is a good idea
