Still trying to decide on this one.

Where do we pick up tickets from? Can we at our resort? It says you have to pick up tickets in advance.

It also says you need to arrive 30 minutes beforehand... why SO early? what if we're late?
Trying to figure out if it's going to be a pain to get to this transportation-wise. We'd be leaving DHS around at 6:00 the latest to get to a 7:15 show.. so not sure if we'd make it if have to be there 30 minutes beforehand. Even without getting there 30 minutes beforehand, it's cutting it close! Figured we'd take a bus to WL and from there take a boat to FW?

Also... with picky children do they offer any other choices? Really want to try this, never have been. Just trying to see if it's going to be a hassle getting there and if kids may not like the food or not.

We've narrowed it down to this... or doing dinner at CRT (already doing lunch there this trip!) CRT would be the easier one for us to do - but darn, really want to try HDDR!
Right now both are in my cart - and not sure how long they will be available for me to make a decision.
thanks!

HDDR is great. Don't miss it. Getting there 30 minutes before is to have your picture taken as a family (similar to what they do at Chef Mickey's). Once they open the doors and you are seated, it's only a few minutes before the show starts. We never buy the pictures so you might be ok arriving 15 mins or so before if you don't want a picture.

I can't help you on the food items. My kids ate the fried chicken but I am sure they are pretty good at making minor substitutions--like for nuggets and mac and cheese.

As far as getting there, if you take the WL bus from DHS, there is a very good chance that the bus will continue on to FW and you can get off at the outpost and take the internal bus that will take you right to HDDR. Just ask one of the internal bus drivers what "color" bus you need to get to HDDR. Once the show is over, they have resort specific buses that will take you back home!

Have fun!!

Absolutely do it, with out a doubt. Great show, amazing food.

You should be able to pickup your tix at your hotel front desk. My take on the 1/2 hour before the show is so that they simply don't have eveyone showing up right as the show starts. They don't actually open the doors until a few minutes before the show. If you get there inside the 30 min window (or even a little late) they won't give your table away.

They didn't have a seperate kids meal just the standard chix, ribs, beans and corn bread. For the adults, its the only place I can think of that includes alcoholic beverages in the price (beer and sangria).

Yes you can pick up your tickets at your resort. We loved HDDR on our last trip and I just booked it yesterday for our trip in February. My boys loved the food and the show.

We're going with our 4 year old DD! I'm so excited! I just booked ours this morning for the 7:15 show. She told me be there 30 minutes early and that they will give me my tickets when we check into our hotel. I also read somewhere that they want you to CALL and confirm that you are coming once you arrive at WDW or something like that...I also read somewhere that someone's kid didn't like the food so they brought them some mac n cheese instead :) I like the free unlimited drink idea! We'll be in the MK anyway so we'll take the boat over.

We are going to HDD at 7:15. What time do we need to leave Animal Kingdom? Do we just take the bus to the Wilderness Lodge?

I love HDDR. I would go again in a heart beat. The fried chicken and mashed potatos aught to get even the pickiest eaters full. The corn bread is to die for.

Well, I booked it for March! 7:15 show, category 2.:cool1:

Now to just hope the kids are okay with the food. I'm like hey, you eat Kentucky Fried Chicken... why not this?
Me, I'll be loving the ribs... BUT, we are eating at WCC the night before - love the skillet! hoping it's not too much of the same thing two nights in a row???

We're doing deluxe dining plan and have enough credits - plus this is our last trip till my oldest becomes a Disney "adult" at 10... so will be too expensive then to keep doing deluxe dining with her being another adult. Figured this was good time to do it, since it will be our 6th trip and never did it before.

But.... we used to do CRT for dinner and loved it - now we've started doing lunch, love that, too! thought with this being our last deluxe dining trip would be nice to do our CRT lunch early in the week, and then go back for a nice dinner in the castle at the end of our trip while we have the dining credits to do so.
So it's either CRT dinner, or try HDDR and I want BOTH - but can't fit both into our schedule.

Then I have the issue that if we do HDDR and we all absolutely LOVE it - darn, then there is yet ANOTHER meal to try to fit into our schedule for the trip following this! As it is we have tooooo many meals we love and can't narrow it down each trip!

Not really sure if you are leaving enough time by leaving the park at 6:00. You will have to wait for a resort bus to WL and then get through the hotel, outside to the dock, and catch the next boat. You then have to walk a short distance to arrive at Pioneer Hall. Not a long walk by any means but they do close the entry doors when the show starts. You have to check in at a window outside of Pioneer Hall. There is a side door that comes up but not sure how that would work if you arrived late. There is usually someone standing at the closed front entry doors (inside) when the show is in progress. It is worth seeing at least once so you made a great decision to try it.

We are going to HDD at 7:15. What time do we need to leave Animal Kingdom? Do we just take the bus to the Wilderness Lodge?

Only if you plan to take the boat from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness. That's actually not a terrible plan, as the boat dock is close to Pioneer Hall.

If you took the direct bus to Fort Wilderness, you would still need an internal bus to Pioneer Hall. Either way, I'd give it 1 1/2 hours because of the mandatory transfer.

we went thi summer and it was AWESOME.
We had first tier seating. We were so CLOSE. You do get picked on a little, but nothing too bad. LOL.
Food was really good...I know some didn't like it, and I WAS expecting it to be bad, but it was NOT.
You get your tickets at a check in window, then you get some picture taken, whil you wait for the doors to OPEN.

HAVE FUN.

Where is the nearest parking for HDDR? I read somewhere that you cannot park at pioneer hall. TIA!

We did HDDR in March & loved it, very entertaining. My boys are 7 & 15, they both enjoyed it and said they want to see it again this year. We took the boat from the WL and were first in line for table assignment (check-in). We waited quite a while before the doors opened, but had a great table in Cat.2.

You cannot park at pioneer hall, you have to take the bus to Fort Wilderness, or the boat from WL. Enjoy the show!!!

There is no parking at Pioneer Hall. You would have to park at the Outpost, at the entrance to Fort Wilderness, and then take the internal bus to Pioneer Hall.
Personally, it is one place I would not drive to.
We took the bus from our resort to the MK and the boat from MK to FW. We budgeted 90 minutes. Our connections were all immediate (wouldn't that always be the way when you leave plenty of time), but y ou can't count on that.
It is well worth it, in our opinion.
Have a Great Trip
