I'm trying to decide where to take my family for a dinner show in Julye've been to Hoop Dee Doo many times and always enjoy it, but the BYBBQ looks like fun too.

Can anyone give me some thoughts about the BYBBQ, such as food, character interaction?

Thanks.

I would be interested in opinions on this too. We are staying at Fort Wilderness in March. Years ago we did Hoop De Doo and thought it was okay. I think my kids are older now and might enjoy it more than when they were little. But the barbeque sounds like great informal fun. Let us know!

Since you've done HDDR, I say do Mickey's BBQ. However, if you hadn't already done HDDR...that would be my first choice.

Just remember Mickey BYBBQ is an outside event. Weather in July. Hot, Humid and expect afternoon rain. You might want to read some of the reports on Deb's site.

HDDR is one of our must-dos. We love it.

I did the BBQ several years ago and would be very hesitant to recommend it to anyone. The food was cold and floating in grease at the bottom of the pan. The character interaction was horrible, rather than have lines to see the characters , the characters just wandered around with mobs of kids in tow. I was honest scared for some of the childrens safety. The BBQ has teh potential to be fun but i think some serious changes are needed

ITA! My cousin and I said the same thing! It has soooo much potential...I wonder why they don't do the things they can in order to enhance the BBQ experience?

Trust me, if the OP hadn't already done HDDR, I never would've recommended the BBQ. Still, it is one of the WDW dinner shows and I'm glad we did it. We wouldn't do it again...but at least we can say "been there, done that." But yeah...we are SO over it! LOL

We really enjoyed the BBQ, despite the cold weather (Dec 1st). I think to enjoy the BBQ you would need to like country music, this is all the band played. It was great meeting Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale in their western outfits and my DS loved dancing with them as well.

The food was just average - bbq ribs & chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, mac & cheese, watermelon and marble cake.

Wow- I was debating the same - we are going in August 2006 & the outdoor BBQ might not be a great idea. ;) I went to HDDR when I was 15 with my parents, now maybe it is time to bring my DD's :)

I'd choose the BBQ...Hoop de do...is due for a change.......same old, same old....BBQ was wonderful....food good (chicken, ribs, franks, corn on the cob, salad, beans, corn bread, fruit, cake, wine/beer and soft drinks).....character interaction was great.....around to the tables, pic and autograph lines, dancing with guests.....I don't understand the OP saying character interaction was terrible.....we had a great time/great food! If I were you, and you've already done the HDDR.....try MBYBQ......it's well worth it....but then again, you may not care for it...but you'll never know until you try......looking forward to your report!
HAVE A GREAT TIME!
