We are counting the days till our March 12 Disney arrival -DH, DD (age 10), and DSs (ages 12 and 14). I would like to make reservations for either Hoop-Dee-Doo or Mickey's BBQ. Which one would be more fun for young teens? My kids LOVE Disney - we were there just two years ago - and I want to do some different things this time. Also, any other suggestions for older boys that would be fun? Thanks!

Put me in the HOOP camp.

In March I think I would do The BYB the weather will be nice. HDD in the summer... AC

We made reservations for Hoop on March 18...We have three teenage boys who are not quite sure WHAT to think about it (after all, country is not cool to them).

BUT I've read many posts of people who have been w/teenagers and they say it will be something the kids will always remember and that they will enjoy it. Besides -- I'm the one paying and I WANNA GO! :teeth:

Watch out for us! We'll be the ones celebrating our anniversary that evening...

Hey it is a day early but while I'm at this thread I might as well say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Speaking as a recovered teenager, I would never, ever, consider what they "THOUGHT" (I use the term loosely) about any form of civilized entertainment, as reason to not attend.

Besides, the HOOP is not "country."
Its a presentation of frontier-era "traveling variety show".

Personally, I prefer Hoop de Doo to Mickey's BBQ. We enjoy HDD every time we go, and we've been enough that the corny jokes should be old by now, but we still love it.

I would also think older kids would enjoy this more than the BBQ, which definitely is geared toward a younger crowd.

Defiantly going to HDD and might have to go to BBQ. We are there for 10 nights and I think I’ll run out of nights to fit in all the restaurants I have on my list for this trip. :stir:

We have done both, we did MBQ when the kids were younger, 3 and 7 but imho it would be fine for early teens also.

We went to Hoop-Dee-Doo when they were 15 &12 and we had a good time.

The downfall with Hoop-Dee-Doo is that once you are seated thats it you are there for the duration, which is fine if you have kids that can sit still, we had a brilliant time. MBQ there are lots of family fun and games going on and its like you are in a big barn so the kids can 'saftly' go wandering, and dancing and take part in the games, so it depends on your family mind set.

sorry if I havent helped much

My votes for the HDD. My husband is pretty picky and whenever we plan to go to Disney, he always asks me if I have made reservations for HDD. We have been about 6 times and have a great time always!

No question about it - with kids that age I would go for the Hoop Dee Doo.

Will there be something for a vegetarian to eat at Hoop? Not just the side dishes that go with the main course I mean.
