Okay, here's our situation...

We have been to the luau and love it. My daughter is a nut about anything Hawaiian and would love to go back. I like the food and the show. My husband isn't as crazy about it...he lives on the toddler diet.

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge this time and would like to try the Hoop Dee Doo. I don't like fried chicken but I would probably eat the ribs. Paying $40 for fried chicken and ribs irritates me a little. The food and show at the Luau seems a little more worth $40 some. DH would love the food.

We are going in January and it could be chilly too and the Hoop Dee Doo is indoors. I really am torn. I would do both but I don't want to overbook our time there. When I've overbooked in the past we always felt rushed and don't want to feel that way this time.

What would you do? Is the show great at HDD? Anyone hate HDD? Bring it on! :)

Toddler Diet :jester:
I love Hoop Dee Doo. Doing it again for my next trip . The show is really funny and entertaining. The food is okay. The bread and desert are fabulous!!Overall totally worth the price!! Go for it!

I'm voting for the Luau. I went with my DH in 1997 and we really enjoyed it! We had both done Hoop De Doo Revue with our parents when we were kids, and neither of us really liked it too much. Also, isn't there an early luau with the characters or something like that? Maybe they serve the "toddler diet" at that one:p It could be a win-win;)

I love the Hoop-Dee-Doo. I found it to be very entertaining each time we have went. We went to the Luau several years ago. At that time they had just quit having the Luau with the characters...I don't know if they have started back or not. My family was not big on the food but the show was great. I myself don't want to spend alot on food that the family won't eat and then they are hungry later. We have had front row seats at both everytime we go and that makes it even better!

Hope you enjoy whichever one you decide on:D

My family and have been to the HDD several times and really enjoy because of the entertainment and the food is good. I didn't like the food at the Luau.

We did the luah in may. My 3 year old did not sit down the entire show! She and a little girl at the next table danced the entire time! I enjoyed the food and I am picky eater. We had two teenagers with us and they really really really enjoyed watching the male luah dancers! (me too!) I don't know if I would spend the money every trip, but it was a really nice experience. The dinner at Ohana's was great, we ate there two time in May. It was very family friendly. Our entire family (all twelve of us) enjoyed Ohana's. Each of us liked something different, and the all you can eat aspect made it a favorite. I personally loved the salad and the desert was fresh pineapple with a carmel sauce!! The children loved the coconut races and the hula hoop contest. The staff was great, too.
