What's the best and quickest way to get to HDDR from the Poly? We have a car, if that helps?

Thanks!

Boat from Magic Kingdom isn't a bad choice if the weather is nice. It negates needing to use the internal bus at Fort Wilderness.

Getting to HDD by car involves parking at the Fort Wilderness lot and then taking an internal bus out to the HDD location. From the Poly you might be better off just taking the boat/ferry/monorail to the MK and then catching the boat to Fort Wilderness. If you do that, HDD is a very short walk from the dock.

as other have said if you drive you will have to bus back HDDR area as there is no car parking. know you did not ask but that also incudes handicapped parking. wqlking from boat dock is a short easy to follow route but from the walk from car parking is about a mile from parking lot. plus internal buses stop at the loops for people staying in those loops before your get to HDDR

Even though we had a car, we took the boat (poly to MK then MK to fort) then back we did boat to contemporary then monorail to poly. As a bonus, DH and I were able to have a few adult beverages without having to worry about driving.

While you do have to leave extra time (probably an hour to be safe) the boat rides are very nice. We have waited quite a while for the boat at the MK and had to rush, so give yourself enough time.

A Birnbaum guide published in 1985 mentions a boat between the Polynesian and Ft. Wilderness. I wish it were still going: a Seven Seas Lagoon motor launch for the GF and Polynesian.

Yes, there was once one boat line that stopped at the Poly, Contemporary, and the Camp Ground. I recall taking it to the Camp Ground and forgetting the boat shut down at 9pm (?). Only by luck did I happen to be at the boat dock at Fort Wilderness Camp Ground when the *last boat* came to drop off the last guests there. Fortunately, the boat captain was very nice and, despite the boats being officially done for the night, dropped me off at the Contemporary as opposed to seeing me trying to figure out how to get back to the Poly (in the days before buses).
