I just added the DxDP for our upcoming trip in June. I am traveling with DH, DS7 & DS2. The only availability I've found is 715 show in category 3 or 930 show with all availability. I "think" I want to sit in category 1. It just seems to me like being down on the floor, being closer to the action would be more entertaining for my boys. What is the late show like? Is it still a packed house? Are there going to be other kids? I remember sitting in cat 3 as a kid and the show of course was good, but you're not in the action, so to speak. Help please.

On DDP, you can get category 1 only at the 9:30 show anyway. That's the only show I've ever been to and there are plenty of small kids there. Only you know how your children will function at an event that late.

If you want the earlier show you couldn't get Category 1 for that on DDP anyway.

I'd do the category 3 in a heartbeat. There is plenty of action in the rafters. Heck I think there is more there than in cat 2. Pioneer Hall is pretty small. We obviously aren't talking about seeing a concert at Giants Stadium or something.

The problem with the 9:30 show is whether the kids can stay up that late and be able to enjoy things. If they are in your lap snoozing during the show then the category doesn't matter. But if they are used to being up late then it should be fine! But again, I wouldn't be overly concerned about the category at all.

I think the kids will be okay with the later show because I'm sure we'll go back to KV in the afternoon and swim and maybe nap. Since there is so much availability for the later show, I'm guessing that this will eventually book up closer to the date, correct?

It may book up, or it may not. They don't sell out every night.

DH and I just returned, and went to HDDR for our first night. It was fantastic, it was our first time there!

We were originally reserved tier 3 for the 7:15 show but because we were running later than we expected, we changed it that day to the 9:30 show - no problems. It was relatively empty, everyone was given the tier 1 floor seats for the 9:30 show, and there were still many families with younger children attending. The good thing, if you know your kids won't wait too long for food, is that the corn bread and salad are already on your table when you are seated, and they come right around to get drink orders.

Have fun - either way, you can't go wrong!

Your kids, Your call.:thumbsup2 Also remember to consider travel time to get there and home. You will not get back to AKL until after midnight, so plan accordingly. Also next morning to consider. Any category at HDDR is terrific I would take earlier seating for less chance of kids meltdown.

well, we decided to go ahead and book cat 1 seats at 9:30 showing. DH really wanted to be in cat 1. So we'll see how it turns out. Plan is to spend morning/afternoon at AK, head back to KV to swim and nap (maybe even for me :rotfl:). Then hopefully we'll be fully refreshed for late dinner.
