Hoop-Dee-Doo at 6:15

1) There could be a "hold" for conventions.
2) Hotels and restaurants frequent block out a number of ressies for large groups.
3) When the "reservation period" is over for the group, the held ressies are released.
4) This is usually at the 45-day mark.
5) Some examples of rooms with "holds" are for major conventions (like the computer User Group) and for large Disney marathons.
.
NOTE: I am not saying this is the reason or even posturing a rumor, I am only giving possibles.

But @TheRustyScupper - isn't it strange that it has been unavailable for a solid 8 - 10 weeks since mid September through to early December? I keep checking, but I am confused.
Hope I get lucky

We have a 6:15, cat 1 reservation for October 9, 2016--I didn't book it until about a week after our 180 day window opened. :confused3
If you use the MDE app does it show correctly? Mine did when I booked, now it just shows a generic greyed out Mickey head, doesn't say anything about HDDR but does say a location of Pioneer Hall. No menu or other Disney details just my guest info, c # and 6:15...

Was able to book HDDR for 6:15pm/Cat 2 for our upcoming trip, the first week of December. Had no issues on our 180 day mark. I hope this means the rest of you whose trips are earlier in the fall are able to secure something very soon!!

It's the strangest thing. I made my reservation at my 180 day mark (actually, the HDDR reservation was the 3rd day of the trip, so I guess really at the 183 day). Anyways, - no go on the 6:15pm. Not even an option for any category - and I've never had a problem booking the show that far in advance. Looks like for the entire month of November (I haven't checked October) there is no 6:15p show coming up on any date. But starting December 6, the 6:15pm show starts showing up again as an option (but not category 1). Seems very strange to me. Either the HDDR has become so popular that it books up as fast as an Adele concert or there's a glitch.

I was able to book 12/9 in a cat 1 but when I was checking availability in the fall just to see, there were several 4pm shows that didn't have cat 1 either. Something very weird is going on with HDDR in the fall.

Hopefully @Hopefully will get the 6:15!

1) I am also confused.
2) When I go into "Ala Carte" (the dining computer system), I can see open tables, but not be able to book them.
3) Indeed, strange.

Yes, Thank You TheRustyScupper. This is exactly what other CM's have told me several times now. No one seems to know why.
I wonder - what happens to all of the servers and kitchen staff between the end of the 4 PM show and the beginning of the 8:30 show as both of those have been available. I could understand if they need to do a reno or something, but then the day would be unavailable, I would think.
I wish I just Knew.

I was able to book the 6:15pm show for Aug 30. I had to call at 7am and booked it 180 days out. I guess it just is really popular, but hoping there is a cancellation so that you can see it! Can you use the touring plans reservation finder? You have to be a current subscriber, but I had really good luck using that for some other ADRs I wanted to make.

I booked the 4:00 show for that day, so if 6:15 never opens up I have a fallback plan.

It may well be that it is fully booked for that day, but considering all the trouble people have been having booking the 6:15 show, it seems quite possible that something else is going on.

This was my experience with booking 6:15 HDDR. I booked at my 180 day mark with no problem - reservation is for September 13. I had to pay out of pocket because at the time we did not have our room package as we were waiting for free dining to be released. At the time of booking I was told by the CM that when free dining was released it would be no problem for me to cancel the reservation, get a refund, and re-book using our dining credits. I was also told that there were plenty of tables for our date and time and I would have no problem with re-booking. The CM explained that HDDR doesn't get fully booked until closer to the day of and I had plenty of time for a September reservation. This was in late March.

When I called to cancel and re-book I had no issues with cancelling. I was however put on hold for a very long time trying to re-book at 6:15. I was told that there were tables available but they couldn't be reserved. I spoke to two different CMs. The CM that finally settled it sent me a confirmation letter by e-mail with a 6:15 reservation. During my hold time she was actually speaking to someone directly at HDDR. MDE shows a 4:00 reservation. The CM told me it would be updated to reflect the 6:15 reservation at a later date, so far it has not been updated.

The e-mail I received states that the location is updating their seating plan and thus the difference in reservation time. My plan is print the letter and take it with me. I'm also going to make a plan B at another dining location. I'll also call closer to our trip and double check that it is for 6:15.

Hopefully it will get straightened out soon for everyone. I know it can be frustrating getting all the ADRs in order.
