Hi all, was wondering if you could answer a question that the ADR cast member could not. We have the dining plan for our trip in February. I booked the Hoop Dee Doo show and confirmed that this show is 2 credits on our dining plan. However she had to take the credit card for this show. When I asked her if the charge will appear before I arrive or will it only appear after the meal (or no show) - she did not know. SO my question is since we have the dining plan, will I have a charge appear on my credit card and then when I use the dining plan the charge will reverse?
Anyone know how this works?

Thanks!

You should not be charged for the meal - they take it as security b/c if you don't cancel 48hrs in advance you will be charged. Check your credit card statement and call back if you have been charged. When you check in and pick up your tickets, they will "charge" them to your dining plan or you can pay for them with cash/credit if you choose.

HDDR is pay in advance. You will be charged now for your ADR. When you go to HDDR you tell them that you are on the dining plan and also be sure you have the CC with you that was used to pay when you made the ADR. They will process a credit to your CC.

That's correct. It is charged immediately to your credit card when you make the ADR for HDD.

If you are using the credits from your meal plan your card will not be charged. They take the credit card as a guarantee and if you don't cancel 48 hours prior and don't show then your card is charged the full amount.

The credits will be deducted from your meal credits when you pick up the tickets at your resort front desk or at Pioneer hall

I agree. We're going in June with the Dining Plan. I called and booked HDDR back in September, telling the CM I would be using the plan. She told me how many TS credits it would require and then took my CC number to keep on file. There hasn't been any charge on my CC for HDDR. It's only for if we don't cancel within the time frame.

I think if someone is on the Dining Plan and told the CM specifically they were using credits for HDDR at the time of the ressie, they better call back and get their CC refunded.

Nope, they take a credit card just in case of a no show. I booked this for next August, we have the dining plan and we were not charged. Its just in case you don't show.

We have ADR's for HDD on 12/11, we are using the dining plan and I made the ADR about 3 months ago. My credit card has not been charged. Same thing for the Fantasmic!Dining package and Candlelight Processional dining package. I guess they just keep the number on file as a "guarantee."

I just made my ADR for the HDDR last week and was asked if I was on "a dining plan" (as opposed to the dining plan; I guess this goes for those on the premium plans too) I said I was and she took my credit card info but did not charge it. I know because I check with my card company. So my guess is you will only be charged if you are a no-show.

OK Original poster here and I just checked and I WAS charged for the 277.00 for the HDD! I did tell her directly that I was on the dining plan with a package and she even said she notated it on the reservation and we discussed that it was 2 credits. When I asked if I was going to be charged she said "she couldn't answer that question" I am so mad at myself that I didn't ask for her to get a clear answer. I tell you I really don't need that charge on my card this time of year!

Should I call back and speak to someone else?

UPDATE: Just called Disney Dining and they fixed it. She said if you are on the dining plan it should have been entered as a Guarantee only. Of course if we are a no show or cancel outside of 48 hours they will charge us again. But for now they reversed the charge.

Thanks for all your help!

Anytime anyone takes your card number (even if they say "oh, it's just to guarantee" something) they are planning to use it. But you kinda suspected that already, didn't you?

If you're on the dining plan, they don't charge you card immediately for the Hoop. So, when might they charge it?

If you run out of dining plan credits. Say you scheduled it for your last day, but used up all your credits before you got to the Hoop. No problem for them, they charge the card. Or you use up all your credits and decide to just skip it. Same deal, they ding the card.

I hope this helps.

The Hoop-Dee-Doo is just about my favorite thing in the world (and in The :earsboy: World). Have a great time!!

That is incorrect. Your dining credits for HDDR (as with the Luau) are deducted immediately upon check in from your Dining Plan credit pool. It is "paid for" when you check in. The only way your card will be charged is if you are a no-show.

We went to HDD in September...they did not charge my credit card, just took the number, and they did NOT deduct the credits until we showed up at the booth...we had a great time, too, even though we are JADED Chicagoans!

chigirl,

What booth? I was told to go to my guest services and pick up my tickets within seven days of the show. I was told they would remove my two credits at that time. Is that how it works?

Also, question. My Sister and Bil will be arriving one night after us. I am assuming that I cannot pick up the HDDR tickets for all prior to their checkin. Is that correct? I am assuming this because they will need to check in and get their dining credits. Am I making sense?

Our credits have always been deducted when we actually pick up the tickets at guest services - not check in, unless we picked up our tickets at the same time as checking in.
