I have decided that this is going to be our dining for our first night. I can't wait. We have never done it before and I think it's going to be a great way to start off our vacation. Not to mention I am excited for the fried chicken. My question is, and please forgive me if this has been asked many times, can I specify my seat? For instance, if I book early enough, and want category 2, can I specify the balcony and not the floor? I think I am correct that there is category 2 seating behind category 1 on the floor. Also, we will be using our DDP. Do they automatically take off 2 credits (well a total of 8 TS credits since there are 4 of us) right off the bat? Or do they charge my card first and then change it to the credits once we get there? Thank you so much.

You don't even have any dining credits to deduct until after you check in.

If you reserve HDDP, you already have a dining plan on your resort reservation, and everything is linked up on MDX, you should only have to give a credit card as a guarantee and you will pay with dining credits when you pick up the tickets. If you have to pay for it when you book it, you'll have to get it refunded later.

When booking online and you have the ddp on your package, the adr system will recognize that you have the dining plan and will hold the ADR with dining credits without any other payment.. So you will not have to worry about paying with your credit card first and being refunded later- just choose from the 2 options to hold the reservation with dining plan credits.. That is what we do when we know we are using the ddp for HDDR when we book it.

I am not sure about seating, but I have read on here quite a few times that it is basically a first come first serve assignment.. The earlier you book the adr, the better your chances of a lower level seat in cat 2 will be.

As the others said, seating is assigned in the order of ADR. Don't worry about category 2 in the back, on the floor is great! The tables are bar height, so you can see over the tables in front of you. My kids loved sitting higher up than the people in front of us.

Yes we had one of those tables in 2012 and it was awesome!

Not sure if doing this on your first night is a good idea. Because that song will get stuck as an ear worm for a long time. I'm sure you will hear it in your mind for the rest of your trip :)

I'll start you up - "Hoop Dee Do, Hoop Dee Do", then repeat forever. Since you started this thread, *I've* got the ear worm!

I have the earworm now, thanks. ;)

We often start our trips with a visit to HDDR, just gets us started with a fun night and sets the tone for the week, have never had a bad seat in cat. 2 weather on the floor or on balcony

My favorite place and event to do in Disney. I have booked for Halloween night this year (kids will come in costume). I just hope they don't pick me out of the crowd to go on stage. Id rather enjoy watching and sip on beer.

Well that didn't work  Since I have never seen it, I don't know the song. After I go I am sure it will drive me crazy
