We have never done the HDDR before and are thinking of trying it this trip. We have a 6 year old and a 2 1/2 year old too. We are looking for people who have done this with kids and their opinions on it. Thanks for your help.

:flower3:

We have seen in twice. Once when our children were small 5 and 6)with my parents, and once recently with a large group of teens and parents. We all loved Hoop Dee Do. It is a really fun show and the food is great! I highly recommend seeing it. It is a great show for all ages. We are planning another vacation soon and are hoping to see it again! I would advise you to book well in advance and ask to be seated close to the stage. You may become part of the show!

We LOVE HDDR. We have reservations for 7:30 on 12/26 and this will be our 6th time to enjoy it. We started going in 1999 when our kids were 12,7 and 3. It is always the first night we are there. The youngest might not get the "story" but it is active enough that it will keep his/her interest. The odest should love it (and I hope you will too). We always have a great time. Have a great trip!

I have just 2 words for you..........Do it or you will really regret it because it is so funny and the kids will be totally entertained and the food is great and the CMs are awesome and it will be the highlight of your trip.........ok, that a little more than 2 words.:rotfl2:

But seriously, DO IT!! You will have a blast, the kids will have a blast, the food is great, and you will want to do it again and again. We have done it over 6 times, and still look forward to doing it again.

Went with a huge group of kids and everyone loved it!! It is one of our faves!!

Did it my first time in 1985 when I was 9 years old. Most recently in 2001 when I was 25. Total of about 6 times. As far as I can tell, it has barely changed at all in that time. Yet, I'd go back in an instant any day. I'm glad that, for once, they didn't change something great!

Trivia Question for those who have seen the show: Tell me one lyric to the theme song besides the words "hoop-dee-do"!

Nice idea for providing us information about Hoop Dee Do Review. Would you mind to let us know more about this? Thanks!

we just went 10/1 with my 20 month old and he LOVED it! He swayed to the music and REALLY loved the washboard ending!!!!

Make sure you like the food they serve first. Some people have complained about the type of food and how it's served :confused3. I LOVE this food so I was at home. It will be family style, cornbread, beans, salad, fried chicken and BBQ ribs, smashed potatoes and dessert, both times we've been there it was strawberry shortcake (think that covers the meal). (dont know if it changes for seasons or not). It is all inclusive, including tip AND beverages, including beer and sangria. I personally have gotten the 1st tier I think it's called (the highest priced ones) and have really enjoyed being that close to the stage. The show itself is VERY corny. The adults will get all the jokes, the 6 year old will get some of the jokes and the 2 1/2 year old will, well they wont really get it, but they should still like the music and stuff. It lasts about 2 hours, but it goes by in a FLASH.

I was looking for something new for my kids, I saw this a few years back and I think that they would LOVE this....thanks for the idea!

Thank you OP for asking and thanks everyone for reassuring me. We are going 12/19!! We were going to go offsite and do the Pirate Adventure dinner show but with the recent reviews being horrible we were scared so we tried for HDDR and got tier 1 for 10. I was nervous about hte kids liking it since we will have 6 kids with us 4 of those being boys ages 9,8,7, and 4. I thought they would be upset doing this but it sounds like they will have a blast! I know my girls will love it but I was really worried about the boys.

Thanks again!

We have ADR's for next Thursday, this will be our 4th time to the Hoop, this time all adults, but when our 2 were young like shown in the picture we went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo twice and they loved it.:cool2::hippie:
Love it the tips are covered and you get all the wine or beer you can drink.:drinking1

Well I guess that is the kind of song that can get "It's a Small World" out of your head if :rotfl:they sign it enough....lol

I agree with the VERY CORNY comment. Entertaining, lively, but probably won't go back. We did love the food though! Best fried chicken ever! Atmosphere is great, but then again, what "theme" doesn't Disney do well?

Supposed to go to Hoop-De-Doo next week but thinking about cancelling.... should I? Convince me to try it! C'mon all you HDD lovers!

I've read the reviews and saw the videos on youtube but this just looks very corny for DH, DW, and DS4. It just doesn't look funny and the food selection is very limited, especially for DS4 who might not eat any of it but fruit (sub due to egg allergy). For 2DDP credits, we could do another signature restaurant or something else interesting (character meal, theme restaurant). And I can't drink more than a few beers/wine because I have to get up early the next morning.

BUT..... I've never seen HDD and I feel like I would be missing out on a tradition -- seems like everyone who has been to WDW has seen this show. Should I go just to say I did it? Is there something about the show I'm missing?

Thanks!

We've absolutely LUVED 'the hoop' since the 80's.

Probably been at least a half-dozen times over the years.

Is it a night of high-brow humor ? Absolutely not, it''s more like "Hee-Haw Live" if anything, and for a couple of hours that seems like the greatest thing in the world.

The food is pretty good. Fried chicken, BBQ ribs, beans, strawberry shortcake... You get the idea.

I've seen 4 year-olds and 94 year-olds both having a rip roarin' good time...

We *highly* recommend it ! :goodvibes

Our grandson (age 5 at the time) absolutely loved HDDR when we saw it 2 years ago - as did our 2 yr old granddaughter - tho it was a little loud for her at times.
We weren't sure what to expect, but were hoping for a decent time. Let me tell you it was great!
The grandson was a little disgruntled after having been pulled off the playground in front of the place to attend the show and was "sulking" when we were first seated. They brought the food out & slapped it on the table, and he still had "the attitude". Once the show started, he was a changed boy! On his way up the stairs to the stage, "6 Bits" deliberately knocked the baseball cap off my husband's head & the grandson roared! Things only got better from there! I have a pic of both the kids with their heads back laughing with such delight, it makes me laugh just to look at them! The show IS corny - but the humor appeals to young and old alike. It's good clean fun - with a little inuendo - but nothing not "G-rated".
The food was good. I don't want to rave about it - but it was fine for what it was (fried chix, bbq ribs, etc). We try to eat healthier at home, so this was a change and it wasn't bad. The cornbread was quite good, as was the salad. The strawberry shortcake dessert was something that they could have left out entirely, as far as I'm concerned, tho I know some people like it.
Another plus was the unlimited beer/wine offered to the adults - sure tasted good to me!
We went again the following year - at the grandchildrens' request - but this time didn't have ring-side seats. We were seated in the far back recesses by the stairs leading to the balcony. Our view and the audience participation with the actors didn't suffer one bit! In fact, when "6 Bits" was ascending the stairs to mingle with the guests on the 2nd floor (we were seated right by the stairs, don't forget) my grandson blurted out "6 Bits - you're my favorite!!" At that, 6 Bits stopped; looked my grandson directly in the eye; and said "You're MY favorite, too!" and spent a few seconds talking with him. It's a moment he still talks about!
We're definitely booking HDDR when we go again this coming April. Even my teenage nephews are looking forward to seeing the show after hearing how much we all enjoyed it.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy it too!

You can request dietary special food, I dont know exactly what they can sub you, but they will do their best! It IS corny, there is 100% no other way to describe it. If you are paying attention, you can see the punch lines coming from 100 miles away, BUT if you are there with a fun crowd the entertainers REALLY will get into it. On one of the jokes, I cant remember it exactly, my friend and I started laughing, I mean, we both started just loosing it. So here are 2 SOBER about 40 year old males, just dying (my wife was trying to hide). Well... it was contagious. The group next to us started laughing and laughing at us, we were only about 2 tables from the front so soon it was the whole front, and I swear, that we actually made the one performer 'lose it' and he had to take a moment to compose himself.

That being said, reading your post it may not be exactly your type of show. If you dont like corny, no good reason to go.
