Hi All!!

I'm taking my two kids to WDW for a trip in August, we have all our ADRs and I'm just thinking about planning a dinner show!

DS is 3 and DD is 9...

Would you do Hoop De Hoo or Mickey's BBQ?

Thanks for any advice or opinions!!

Never done Hoop de Doo (not my kind of thing)... but did do the Backyard BBQ and as I went through the food queue, I remarked, out loud,
that these were the most expensive hot dogs and hamburgers I'd ever put on my plate.

I think the kids would really enjoy either one. But you know your own kids best. Which do you think they would prefer? If they're nuts about the characters, then the BBQ would probably be the way to go. We've never done it, but have seen HDDR several times and really loved it.

Don't really think you can go wrong with either one.

LoL I had to go look up the price for this event, OMG 50 dollars for burgers ?¿

Was the beer included in this price ?

Cannot compare - have only done BBQ - did it 2 years ago with 3 girls 8, 6 and 5 years old at the time.

We loved it and are doing it again this year.

Yes, beer is included, and it's walk up service so you don't need to wait for a server. Also included is all the mickey bars and other ice cream bars you can eat (same ones they sell in the parks for around $3 each) - also walk up service.

It's more than hot dogs and hamburgers - it is bbq food, but there are ribs on it that are pretty good.

Character interaction and dancing with them was tons of fun for the kids.

It's a pretty fun night - I'd recommend it.

IMHO, I would do the HDDR for August. We went to the BAR-B-Q last July, and although it was fun, it was just too hot to enjoy it since it is held outside. At least with HDDR you'd be in A/C. Also, HDDR is more of a "show", BAR-B-Q is more of a dance party.

unlimited wine/beer at both.

There are more characters at BBQ that interacts by dancing no autographs tho if I remember right. Hoop de doo revue was a dinner show that even got the crowd involved it wasn't a buffet per se but you could get refills on anything. Food was delivered to your table. Buckets of Chicken, sweet cornbread, salad, ribs, etc and strawberry cake for dessert.

We've done the bbq twice & the HDDR once. Food may be slightly better at HDDR but the kids would probably like the bbq better. The ribs were really good at the bbq & all you can eat Mickey Bars :cool1:

My kids love the HDDR..plus as the OP stated, it's air conditioned! I can honestly say it's our favorite dinner hands down. The food is good, and they keep bringing lots of it..plus beer and sangria  I've heard plenty of people say that they weren't impressed with the BBQ (to each his own of course, but honestly that's why I've never done it..to be fair), but HDDR gets rave reviews from everyone. There is alot going on to occupy the kids. They have an audience participation portion that is hilarious. The kids also get to play the washboard at the end. The players move around the room..kids clap along and I seriously don't think my kids stop grinning the entire time. Also, they take a photo of your family before you go in..ours turned out great last year, so it ws a nice souvenier. If you have your car, I'd drive to this dinner as it's a little off the beaten path in Fort Wilderness, or I think you can take the boat from the Magic Kingdom.

HDDR would be my choice. We were there last August and anything with AC is recomended.

We have done both and hands down for us it would be HDDR. We did it in 2009 and we all me, DH, DS (11 at the time) and DS (6 at the time) loved it. It was such a funny show. Corny, but still very funny and the food was very good as well. But hey if your kids are into the characters I would go for Mickey's BBQ. Either way I am sure you will have a great time.:cool1:

Enjoy
