I've never been to the Hoop De Doo Review but was wondering about it. We are going back in about one year and wondered what the thoughts were regarding it.

When we go again we'll have a 7 yo and a 5 yo.

What kind of food do they serve?

How much is it?

What is the entertainment?

What are your thoughts about the show?

Any help would be great. Thanks gang!

We went on our honeymoon in June and we still sing the Hoop de doo song! We thought it was fantastic and all the kids that were there seemed to really enjoy it too. They even pulled several kids from the audience as volunteers.
Food? Some good, some not so good. It is definitely worth the money and I would highly recommend it to anyone-young or old.
The show is actually pretty goofy and hilariously funny. They dance around and tell some jokes with some music in there too. They do, however, (which I appreciated) let you eat. They pause at each course to give you time to actually eat your food because during their show, you won't want to take your eyes off the stage.
I say go for it. You'll be glad you did.
Take the early show if possible. We went to the late show and the little ones were exhausted by the end.

We went in June 2004 and sat right next to the stage. They ended up selecting my DS4 to go up on stage and be in the show as the "Texas Ranger". They certainly got more than they bargained for :rotfl2: as he kept taking the costume off and not following directions. Makes for a hysterical video.

I'd go again in a heartbeat. It was expensive, but fun--certainly doesn't hurt that my child was in it!

It's approximately $50 for adults and $25 for kids 3-9 which includes tax and tip

the menu consists of fried chicken, ribs, corn, and I think there may have been baked beans, and strawberry shortcake. Unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks are included

We loved the show much more than we loved the food. From allearsnet.com :

Your meal, brought to your table includes: fried chicken, pork ribs, a side dish of mixed corn, onion and pepper, and strawberry shortcake! Unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks are also included in the price.

However, my DD9 is a vegetarian and the server brought her two slices of pizza! So, I guess there are other options for your little ones. Just don't expect gourmet!

Now, the show is just so much fun. We did it on our first night at WDW and it really puts you in the "Disney-frame-of-mind". We took the boat from the Magic Kingdom and then spent an 40 minutes shopping in the "Trading Post" and sitting on barrels and getting our feet massaged. You'll know what that means when you get there! I do regret that we didn't purchase the photo taken before we went into the show! It seemed pricey at the time--oh, well, live and learn.

Our family loves this show! The food was good (so is the sangria) and the show is great! It's just corny, silly fun. My kids (8, 6 and 2 yo twins) all enjoyed it as did my DH and I. We will definitely go again on our next visit!

Looks like you're a DVC member. You can get a 10% discount on Hoop at the 9:30 show.

the BEST fried chicken in the world according to dh and ds... it's good comfort food... awesome dessert!

How much is it?
approx $50/adult $25/child... two credits per person on the dining plan... and well worth it, imo... the food and drink are all unlimited :earseek:

What is the entertainment?
a really good, funny, corny, amusing, entertaining, memorable stage show w/some audience participation... lots of good ol'fashioned fun... some slapstick, some physical comedy, some song and dance... something for everyone!

What are your thoughts about the show?
EXCELLENT! a MUST DO! LOVE IT!!!! :goodvibes

Any help would be great. Thanks gang!

your children are PERFECT ages to LOVE IT!! my dd had to write an essay tonight on her favorite memory of all time and she wrote about HDDR! we've been twice and would go again tomorrow if we could :earboy2:

and for one dissenting opinion...we all hated it....thought it was a terrible waste of money.....
i think had we not eaten at all we might have enjoyed it more..
you have to eat while you watch the show....and it was very very very rushed.....like: here's your slop....shovel it down your throats while we quickly get this show done and get you people out of here so that we can get the next victims in....
not my idea of a good time...
if i had it to do over again, i would forego the food and just watch....i wonder if we'd enjoy it more that way.....but i tend to doubt it...

I went as a kid many times and brought my kids there in 2001 when they were 7 and 5. DD then 7, now 11 would like to respond to your question, so I'm turning the keyboard over...

Hey Ya'll! :wave2: I'm a Disney Daugher and a lover of the Hoop-De-Do! So I hear you'd like to go in about a year or so? Awsome! If your considering the HDD (Hoop-De-Do) I think it's the funniest Disney Dinner show ever! I went when I was 7 and again when I was 10. It still made me laugh. They serve fried chicken and barbeque ribs which are absolutely delicious! The idea of it is there are some entertainers who are just coming into town and they put on a show for you. It's goofy, funny, and corny and you never get bored of the characters. But you shouldn't go just because people say it's good. While my family was there, we laughed at every joke, other families were ... well... bored. If you go you need to be ready to be a corny family. It really depends on what your family likes. If your family is like ours, you'll love it! We can't wait to go back next year!

...she needs to get her own Dis ID! :rotfl2:

I think everyone should try it at least once. Remember, you're paying for a dinner show. Don't view it as $50 per person for fried chicken, and you'll think it's worth it!

We all love the Hoop Dee Dooo !
Its just a fun, casual,energetic dinner/show !
Good filling down home cookin' ( NOT a place for dieting or those obsessed with healthy foods)....Good stick to your ribs food!
Very cute show, loads of laughs and enjoyable to watch!
I've been twice and already have ressies made for next years WDW trip!
(Reservations are taken 2 years in advance)
Yes, it could be costly........but when I'm on vacation I seem to toss that to the wind and say "Hey, I am here now and am living for the moment. And being at Disney World,I just want to do everything !!!"
All the kids in our group loved it and ate really well, ages from 3 to 11!
I say GO FOR IT !!! ENJOY ! :teeth: :wave2:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE HOOP DEE DOO REVUE!

My family used to go every year and I will be taking my boyfriend next year when we go. I think he'll like it too.

The food has always been good...down home casual type home cookin! And the show is great! And, you can't beat unlimited beer right?

Unlimited Beer & Wine is Included !!!
Well Hoop Dee Doo to That !!
You just have to go there and participate with the "silliness"!!
Serious/Snooty Folks Shouldn't Bother.....
Its Loads of Fun! :rotfl:

We went this past Sept, the 10th to be exact. I have always wanted to do this and never have been able to. My family consisted of MIL (70) 2 DS (22) DH DGD (4) and myself. It was my birthday and we have a tradition that we always get to chose where to eat, well we were at Disney so I chose HDDR. We all love my DGD and my 2 DS's thought it was great. Even my MIL laughed alot. We will return again for our anniversary trip and will make it a tradition from now on. Food was real good, I cant eat Strawberry's so they gave me cake with whipped cream and a Candle :flower: Go it will be something you and your family will enjoy. As a prev poster said go to the 1st seating with your little one's it will be better for you and them. :sunny:

I am interested in the HDDR also, but I heard if you do not have ressies 2 yr's in advance you sit in a balcony? Is it still fun, from the balcony?

Last time we went I only made the reservations about 3 months in advance, we had pretty good seats on the main floor.

Thanks so much for the info

I've never sat in the balcony, but it seems like it would be okay. But in my opinion, the main floor up front is "prime"....
However, I think Disney knows to try and include ALL seating in the festivities, everyone is paying the same ticket price and the Cast Members really try and include the entire audience in the show, even the balcony. I know the characters would go up in the balcony alot during the show and interact with guests! I believe they do a good job of keeping the Balcony Folks feel right at home! :earboy2:

The HDDR is great for all ages. We took our daughter for the first time when she was 4 and she loved it. She is now 18 and when we go back in May we have reservations for the HDDR. We have been up front on the main floor and we have been in the balcony. Actually, the balcony was better than our last table on the main floor. We were all the way to the left at the front and I didn't have a good view, but the show was still great. I love it and wouldn't miss it.
