if we want to do this .. what should our strategy be or dinner?

we are at the world July 5-9, but flight out is the Friday the 9th i think at 7 or 8pm

i think our current strategy is MK on the 5th
but all the other days are open right now. what would be a good park to go to during the daya nd then have dinner at the hoop de doo after
of course if we can get reservations.

MK is a great park to go to during the day and then have dinner at the Hoop De Doo after. You can take the boat from MK to The Fort.

I agree that MK is the optimum park for your HDD day. Very convenient and easy transportation via boat from MK to Ft. Wilderness, which docks a short walk from Pioneer Hall where HDD takes place. If you’d rather do a different park before HDD and will depend on Disney transportation to get you there, you’ll need to take a bus from that park to Ft. Wilderness, then an internal bus to the area where Pioneer Hall is, so you’d need to allow at least 90 minutes to 2 hours travel time.

In that case any park would be a good park to go to during the day and then have dinner at the Hoop De Doo after.

Maybe AK as they close earlier...

In the past, HDDR had a 4:00 pm showtime. If you are ok with leaving MK around 2:30 pm to see the show, you can go back to MK after HDDR to see the fireworks. If you would rather not interrupt your MK day, I would do it on a day you are visiting a park where you will spend the least amount of time and consider doing the latest show. If you leave from AK, EP or DHS, simply take a bus from the park to Ft. W and either walk or take the internal bus to the Pioneer Hall area - it really doesn't take that long to get from the front of Ft. W to the theater area. But it's still most convenient from MK.

I agree with @StageTek and @Marthasor that if you'd rather do HDD on a different day from MK, the park you visit should be one you expect to finish early. The 90-120 minute suggested travel time from the other parks to the Ft. Wilderness Settlement isn't just because of the distance between, it's because you might have to wait 20-30 minutes for each bus, if you just miss one. The Ft. Wilderness bus from the parks drops people off at the Outpost, which is the resort (campground) entrance, and it's about a mile from there to the Settlement, so whether you walk it or wait for the internal bus, you need to allow sufficient time (the MDE app says it takes 25 minutes to walk, 31 minutes to ride). BTW if you decide to book HDD on your MK day, I'd be at the MK boat dock at least an hour before HDD checkin time, again because you may have to wait for a boat. We were almost late for an ADR at Wilderness Lodge a few years ago despite being at the dock over an hour before!

Yeah I always did the 6pm showing and spent the morning at MK, leaving around 4-4:30pm. The boat ride over to FW was a nice way to kind of unwind and relax from touring. Then we would chill on the beach before the show. I am so happy the show is running again soon! It's a must do since my son got chosen to be in it when he was 5.

I remember we were there when my DGD was a picky eater. They brought a huge bowl of Mac n cheese to our table. We had a great time. Does anyone remember the cost of the dinner?

We did it on an AK evening last trip and took a bus to MK and then the boat over to FW which leaves you not far from pioneer hall. Then we boated back to MK and rode rides during the fireworks.

I remember when Minnie vans were around they could take you directly to pioneer hall. Hopefully they still offer this. I may use them next time we go and stay in the park a bit longer before heading out. It’ll probably save an hour in transpiration time.
