Hi,

If I’m reading website correctly, the 4 o’clock show means the doors open at 4 but the show doesn’t start till 4:20. Is that right?

So many questions - How does the seating work? When is the food served? Is it all you can eat? What time would that show end?

There is a boat from the magic kingdom to get there right? Is it near the boat dock or a long walk from there once you get to fort wilderness? Does the boat come every 20-30 minutes like the buses?

LOL. You should expect to get in line 30 min before the doors open. The doors will open prior to the show.
Your seating is assigned. The earlier you buy your tickets, the closer to the stage you will be seated at.
Once you are seated, your server will get your drink orders and start the food pretty quick. Not everyone is eating everything at the same time EXCEPT dessert.
It is all you care to eat and drink.
The Boat from MK will dock just a short walk to the Pioneer Hall. The boats are about every 20 min so plan an hour before the show just in case you "just miss the boat." If you get there early, there is a playground right outside of Trails End (you can see it from the dock) if you have kids and the general store to the right of the boat dock. We always waste a few minutes in there. There is also a walk up bar window at Trails End you can grab a beverage if you like prior to the show. Walk past Trails End (the other restaurant there) and you'll see the entrance. The barn the horses are kept in is a little ways down to the left of the show entrance. It's easy to kill 15-20 min there as well. Early is always better. You can pick up your tickets to the left of the entrance to the show. They have a podium set up in front for people to check in.

We just did the 6:15 show last Saturday and it was fantastic. They say seating is assigned according to when you book but that is subject to change we discovered. I booked only 5 days ahead and when I picked our tickets up at our hotel we were assigned a table in the 6th row of Category 1. When checking in at Hoop Dee Doo our new ticket had us in the 4th row with another table number hand written below. Turns out when we were seated we ended up in the center of the 2nd row at what I think is one of the best tables!

When you are taken to your table you will find the salad and cornbread already there waiting for you. Our server took our drink orders and we proceeded with our 'first course'. After you have had time to pretty much finish your salad the show begins. They start the main course with the chicken and ribs which was brought out during the last song/dance number for that act. The performers then take a short break while you have time to eat the main meal. Dessert was the only course we ate in it's entirety while the show was being performed. The servers will bring you more but we honestly found what we started with to be more than enough but of course our table was only two adults and two small children. Beverages were also constantly being refilled (my husband had beer and I opted for the sangria). We left the theater right around 8:00 pm so it was approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

We took the boat over from Wilderness Lodge and yes you are let out right near Pioneer Hall. It was a very short walk from the dock. Have a great time! We all loved the show and found the food to be quite good for what it is. The whole experience was wonderful-our son even got to participate in the show! Also, be on the lookout for photopass photographers before you head in to the theater. There were several out and we got one of our best family photos there!

I'm going to hijack this thread with an additional question.
We have a booking for 10 shared with another family. We will be at different parks that day and will meet there.
If the other family is running late, will they seat us, given that it is pre-paid?

Thanks to those who have posted details. We are doing Hoop De Doo in November. It will be my wife's first time. I've done it a couple of times but it was back in the 80s so I only vaguely remember it. We're really excited to see it. And we haven't visited Fort Wilderness at all for years. I'm planning to head over late afternoon and spend some time exploring before the show (we're doing the 4:00 show). I'll be perfectly happy if we walk around a bit, visit the store, and grab a drink and find a bench or a couple of rocking chairs and wait for the show.

We go every year for our Christmas trip and always find it funny how everyone gets in an insanely long line at Pioneer Hall, despite the fact you are guaranteed a table and the seater knows exactly where you are going to sit. You won't miss any of the show if you don't wait in the line. In fact, you will not miss anything, unless you enjoy standing while waiting. I guess maybe the excitement, or just not knowing, causes that line when they ring that triangle for dinner!

I totally agree with this. But for some reason I get antsy when I see the line forming and I always get in it. ALWAYS. ALWAYS.

This happens everywhere. Have you ever been on a cruise? If dinner starts at 6:30, there is a chaotic mob scene that begins forming about 6:10 and a mad stampede when the doors open - just so everyone can rush in to their assigned reserved table. We stay back and show up at 6:35 and stroll right in because the mob is gone by then. I don't know what everyone is afraid they're going to miss if they aren't the first ones in the door.

Wife and I did the HDDR for the first time the last week in May. We are in our late 60's. You are going to enjoy the entertainment (corny jokes, silly plot and all). The food is excellent in my opinion and it is all you care to eat. Lots of variety served family style. We took the boat from MK to the Wilderness Campground. The walk is reasonably short distance. I would allow an hour total for travel.

Well, you have to stand somewhere, so might as well be in line. Besides, the earlier in, the earlier you can begin eating.

...or you could sit in a rocking chair on the porch at Crockett's Tavern around the corner, wait about 3-5 minutes for the craziness to be done, then casually saunter in, be directed to your table, and start on your salad and cornbread.... to each their own!
