So excited to be heading to WDW end of Sept.! My DH and I are going to be there with our DD9, DS7, DS4, and DS2 as well as my parents. My Dad has fond memories of the HDDR so we've got reservations, but it's a pretty pricey show and I can't help but think that my kids might have more fun with 3 extra hours in one of the parks rather than the HDDR. Any thoughts?

Worth. Every. Penny!

We do this pretty much every trip, and never have had a regret doing so. It is good corny fun! Have been going to the HDDR with my DD since she was 8. She is 11 now, and still loves it. We went with my nieces and nephew, ages 4 -9 this past March, and they still talk about it, and say if we all go back again this March, they want to go again.

We're debating on this, too. We love the show and the food, but they also have the great buffet at Trail's End, also at Fort Wilderness. My kids really enjoy the show, but we only go every other year or so because they know it by heart!! I don't think you'll be sorry if you spend the money, but if you don't want to, go to Trail's End and then take the boat to the Magic Kingdom. Use the money you would have spent there! Either way, you're a winner!

We have a reservation for HDDR, but I didn't know it was a 3 hour thing, are you sure about that?

The actual show isn't 3 hours, but adding in travel time, and the fact that you have to arrive early, all that is 3 hours. To Op, maybe if you think your kids will resent time away from the theme parks, try to tell them how much this means to your dad, and how he loved the show. Maybe make the reservations when you would be leaving the park anyway, not the early show. Good thing is that the food is kid-friendly, as is the whole show.

Very much worth it... even if it wasn't free dining (score!!!):cool1:

Our CM/waiter would not stop bringing me beer! :thumbsup2

Our DD4 was initially not into the show (I had shown her videos pre-trip) and she warmed up in 5 seconds. What a fun, memorable evening.

Strawberry shortcake!! :woohoo:

My children are older than yours, but this is our favorite night of our Disney vacation every year! Totally worth it. I think even your two yr. old will enjoy seeing everyone else laughing and having a good time. There are six of us, so it isn't a cheap night...but really...it's priceless. Enjoy!!!!

worth the money no hesitation. I did this as a child with my family back when we first visited the world way many years ago. We did it every trip since. Subsequent trips with my family, my high school graduating year trip with a friend, a trip with my (ex) husband, my children's first trip in 2006 (dd was just turning 3, ds was 5). They both fell in love with it!! So of course on the just me and my kiddies trip, we did the HDDR again. It is a never miss. The food is hot, and very tasty. The salad is so nice to start, the strawberry shortcake is the best I have had. and the show is as corny as you would expect, you leave with a full belly and a sore face from all the smiling and hoop de dooing!

Have a great time!

Worth every penny, ENJOY....my son was able to go with is grandparents, grandpa passed on....but we have amazing memories and photos of that trip....such a good time was had by all...Grandpa spoke of that Honey Butter for ages......Not sure they still do the honey butter now that I think of it.......:confused3

The kids will enjoy it. There's a lot of audience participation where the kids get to whoot and holler and wave napkins around. Plus, it's cool to see the campgrounds and get out of the busy parks. It's expensive but the food is decent.

We've been to the HDDR 2x and enjoyed both trips.

Definately worth it!!! We LOVE it! And although we don't have kids, I've never witnessed any children in there not enjoying themselves. Do you have the Dining Plan... because you can use TS credits (2 pp, I think) for HDDR. Also, there are 3? different tiers of pricing that depend on where you sit... if you don't want to spend as much, see if you can sit in a different section that's on the lower price tier; but if you want to REALLY be part of the action spend the extra and be seated by the stage!

Worth EVERY PENNY!!!! WE absolutely LOVE it!!! The last time we went, 10/2010, we had four adults, a 15, 14, 2 and 3 year old ... ALL ENJOYED IT!!! :lovestruc

Not to be a lemming, but...

Worth. Every. Penny.

:)

We don't do it EVERY trip, but probably every other trip. The kids (from the time they were as young as 2) have a BLAST. The food is decent, but they will put you under the table if you're drinking beer/wine/sangria if you let them (which probably isn't a good idea). To us, it's definitely worth it!
