We've never sat upstairs at Pioneer Hall, but we're thinking about saving a few dollars and going with Cat 3 instead of Cat 1 tickets.

Are the upstairs tables all next to the railing? Or is there an aisle and some tables are farther from the rail?

Any general thoughts on what the views are like for Cat 3?

Thanks!

HOOP-DEE-DO-REVIEW CAT-3 SEATING:

1) Cat-3 isn't bad, if
. . . you don't mind turning around - one half of seats face away from stage
. . . you might have a pillar in your way - five posts per side
. . . your kids are tall enough - short kids might have railing in the way
. . . you don't mind climbing stairs to your seat - not handicapped accessible
2) Some people don't mind Cat-3.
. . . entertainers still visit the upstairs
. . . the food is not cold
. . . they like viewing down on the stage

Our first HDDR experience was in Cat 3 seating. The view was pretty nice, but as Rusty noted some of the seats you do need to turn around to watch the stage. The entertainers to make rounds up there so you don't feel left out.

Now, our 2nd time doing HDDR we did Cat 1 seating and were at a table right in the middle up against the stage. That was an awesome experience. We were glad we did Cat 1, but if we went again we'd probably do 2 or 3.

you have to turn to watch the show, but with breaks in the show Ididn`t think it was an issue. We sat on the left side and thought it was fine.

We were in cat 3 seats last month and thought the seats were just fine. We were along the rail, so all our seats were along the rail, like you are sitting at a bar. The seats spun around, so you didn't have to move the chairs to see the show. The waitress serves on the inside, so none of your party has to see over the table to see the show when you are on the sides. There were tables in the middle section of the balcony that were normal, meaning that you didn't sit parallel to the rail like you did on the sides, the table was perpendicular to the rail.

But since there were breaks in the show and breaks in the serving to watch the show, it was all fine. We really enjoyed the evening and would get cat 3 seats again. The view was great.

Our three year old and five year old grandkids could see just fine over the rail. :)

Thanks for the input, team!

The youngster in our group will be 54, so no problem seeing over the rail.

Curiously enough, checking online, it appears that the dinner shows are only available up to 150 days out, rather than 180. So I'll call and see what I can get.
