Hello everyone!

We're looking to book one of these two for our rehearsal dinner, but we can't decide which! We'd be really grateful if anyone could share their opinions on which might make a better rehearsal for 25 adults this July. We'll all be staying at the Contemporary Resort.

We want it to be FUN, ALL INCLUSIVE (inc alcohol), and GOOD FOOD.

Yeah, we figured that the food won't be amazing at either, but we'd really appreciate hearing your views. Or any other suggestions?

Thanks everyone

We had our welcome party at the Hoop Dee on Dec 13, 2009.

We invited everyone to the rehearsal that came to Florida (58 people)
Of that group we have about 45-and we attended the 9:30 show so we could get the Tables in Wonderland discount (and it was WELL WORTH IT!) The show wasn't sold out so even though we had reservations upstairs they put us all in the rear of the room downstairs. I was a little worried when they told me this- our group is full of drinkers and they're rowdy to put it lightly- but it worked out great anyway. I think the food at the Hoop is good. I think it was a fun rehearsal dinner venue. The only drawback was getting there! Our rehearsal was at the Boardwalk and then to move that crazy crowd from SBP to the ESPN Club then to the Bus depot then onto the boat- while there were bathroom breaks and last runs out for drinks was tough but it worked! Getting home from the Hoop is SO much easier- I love how they have the busses waiting outside! and if your group drinks like mine, the convience of a safe trip home over the easier trip to the Poly for me was the right choice...

Good luck! Happy Planning!!!

The back of the room were were 2-3 tables deep from the door. It was a good thing to be there because of the proximity to the bathrooms!

HDDR for sure! The food is much better as is the show! We love it so much we are actually having our wedding "reception" dinner there for our Escape Wedding in September :)

I've been to Spirit of Aloha twice and although it's decent, the food is average (to poor if you count the dessert) and we just didn't enjoy the show as much.

I've been to both a few times (Hoop-de-doo more recently) and I like Hoop-de-doo much better. First off, the food is much better, and actually really good. Alcohol is included with the price of both. I also like the show better, it is just much more fun. I actually thought DF wouldn't like it, and he LOVED it. Both are good, so whatever you choose will be fun. Also, I don't know what time of year your wedding is, but Spirit of Aloha is outside/partially outside, so if it's cold or raining the show could get canceled, or you might just not have a good time. Since your at the Contemporary, transportation to both will be easy.

We have done both and we LOVE the Hoop, the show and food and the drinks were good! The cast walks around the whole bottom floor and gets everyone involved, a great time was had by all!!!:cool1:

I haven't done the Spririt of Aloha... but we just did HDDR in Oct, and I LOVED IT!!! Previous posters are right, the food is actually really good. And they give you all the alcohol you want, they kept bringing my husband pitchers of beer, we got a little buzzed, and since it was my DH bday, they gave us the best table. Front row and dead center. It was awesome!!! We are totally going back this year!!! I vote for there!!!

I agree HDDR you won't be disapointed it is so funny!! Great food and alch included. Since you'll have a big group ask for pitchers of beer. My boyfriend got a pitcher so he didn't have to keep asking for a beer.

Wow guys, thank you for all the great responses.

It looks like we're going to go with Hoop Dee Doo then! It seems like a much more fun, tasty and weather friendly choice.

Does anyone know if Tables in Wonderland is accepted for all performances?

And would we have to pay for all 25 people up front when we book (ouch!)

Thanks everyone, really appreciate your advice on this. I think that we're going to have a great time.

I do know that in order to book all seats together you need to confirm it on a credit card. I called last week to ask this. :(

This is actually a really good idea to combine the welcome and rehearsal dinners together. That's something I might consider!

I have to say that I love both of them. The HDDR is definitely funny/silly where the SOA is mainly the dancing, but it was still really fun! They're just both completely different so while I know you have chosen the HDDR, for other people's reference I think you just need to decide which theme you want to go for. Whenever I go to the SOA I dress all tropical, and when I go to the HDDR I like to dress country. (As you can see, I really get into these things, haha) When I went to a Dis Wedding back in 2005, we did both of them on different nights and we all enjoyed both!

TIW is only for the late show and booking it for a large group is tricky... As soon as your booking window opens up, I'd make this one first... I had 4 seperate reservations in order to get the large group in and then since they were all in my name I even got a call to make sure there wasn't an error like the week before. For whatever reason the system wouldn't allow such a big group through group dining- I was talking to the HDDR directly to make the big res. (party of 20, 16, 10 and 10- but wound up canceling several people with little ones and the savings really added up!) I didn't have my TIW card until after I booked and the ladies at the HDDR were so awesome they did it during the show!

It was really great!
:thumbsup2
